Would appreciate your views on engine oil consumption rate. Kindly refer to my earlier posts on the same.

Thanks Amit. Can the Bangalore guys post the prices going there?
My very old indica consumes half a liter every 6-7000kms. she's done 113000kms and is a 2002 model.

@Cyber - I drive an Accent CRDi and the typical consumption is 200 ml every 8000kms.
@tsk, @goandude @csateesh. Thanks!Averaging reading froms tsk & goandude roughly translates to 400ml per 5000km. To my knowledge consumption in CRDi engines should be on the lower side as compared to IDI engines. So, i guess my engine is guzzling a little more oil than it should i.e. 1L in 5000 Km.Also point to note is consumption of Mobil 05W40 was higher than Castrol/MAK 15W40.
Does anyone know which Synthetic Oil can be used in a Ford Fiesta Diesel TDCI??Ford recommends 10W30 Grade oils across its range of cars and am not sure of what i can get in this grade. The car has run 40k kms and i plan to flush and change over to synthetic.

@ B2W - Synthetics for diesels. It has to be only one Mobil Delvac 1. The grade in synthetics would definitely be better than the one you have mentioned which is the mineral oil grade.
More than the grade please find out the oil specs for the oil burner. Mobil Delvac 1 meets the latest CJ-4 requirements too.
Hope this helps
Cheers

@csateesh - I think Mobil Delvac 1 available in India is CI4+. I think CJ4 is Delvac 1
ESP. I do not think it's availavle in India. Just something to update in our knowledge bank!
Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40
@B2W - I saw your query on other Syn vs mineral thread also. If you see my earlier posts on that thread, you will get some more details on this. In summary, I suggest you stay away from Petrol specific synthetics (Mobil 1, Castrol, Shell etc.) for a diesel engine. If you want only syn, then Mobil Delvac 1 else a good mineral (Delvac MX, Shell Rimula 4 etc). Just my views.

Thanks for the update. Yes you are indeed right. It is the ESP that is CJ4 and not the Delvac 1.
Will check with the folks on the availability of the ESP.
Cheers
Folks, this is slightly off topic for this thread but is related to oil changes. Since many experts visit this thread often, I am asking the question here.
I am going to flush my Manza QJD's engine at next oil change. Got 450 ml can of STP oil flush. Heard somewhere that Cat con should be removed when running the engine for 10-15 mins after pouring in the flushing oil. Is it true? If yes, why? Can anyone please help?

:Shockked:
@amit - BIG NO. This isn't required. Oil flush is for the engine oil which means the wet sump and the areas the engine oil travels too.
Cat CON is for exhaust treatment. These are as different as chalk and cheese.
Hope you don't believe these A.S.S SA's..
Was able to source the best single malt for my ride (aka Delvac 1)
Finally I got my can of Mobil Delvac 1. Yes you read it right Delvac 1 :D
Will get to fill it for my ride on Monday when it goes in for her service. Picture of it from the front
Picture of the API spec - Meets API-CI4+.. Yay
Jaggu thanks for the contact of Exxon Mobil
Cheers
