Can someone enquire the cost of the brake booster when you guys go to MASS for the change. I have a Swift Petrol Vxi, and I always had this feeling that the brake is not adequate. Might go for the upgrade at own cost.

Since when was the new booster factory fitted? My Dzire is Jan 2010 manufactured, can anyone tell me whether I am running new or old? I didn't find any significant difference, but yes 3 digits is bit scary.

Mine is Nov 2007 non abs model and last month came after servicing where i mentioned weak breaks but theres no changes at all they just replaced some small part in both front break calipers thats it, breaks are still weak as it was, whats the procedure to get it done i dont mind paying as well if its really going to work like petrol cars.
Will check once again in pratham motors as they are quite close to my flat at ORR.

Costs around 3200 bucks, not expensive. With Labour I guess it should reach the 5 thousand mark as u ll need new brake oil too. But its totally worth it.

The circular came in 4th or 5th month, so now sure if yours has the new brake booster or not. I guess a MASS could check it out with the model number ?

Just ask them to change the brake booster to a new model ones , which has a bigger diaphram ( not sure how to spell this ). This should do the trick.

Hi HumYum, is the master cylinder being changed along with the booster ?

I'm just wondering if the booster is from the SX4...

I called up regional maruti HQ after getting to know about this change.

Talked to their service head - he denied receiving any such circular or intimation from MUL about replacing the boosters for swift D.


Let me raise a fomal complaint about the brakes being weak with the regional office of Maruti - let's see if something good turns out from it.

Two of my friend's sold their Swifts due to the narrow escapes they had because of the weak brakes at high speed.

Guess they were a little hasty, this should be good news for existing owners.

buntydev said he ll upgrade the booster at his own cost, so I told him that if he upgrades it at his own cost, it should cost around 5 thousand rupees at max.

The circular I saw did not mention anything about replacing the boosters. It just mentioned that there has been a design change for the non-ABS models. It was more like information to the people working in the workshop.

It was for both Swift and Ritz diesel non-ABS models.
