If its the problem with Bangy or Indian water, I think VW should write a caution note like:--

Caution: Bangalore water may not be suitable for Polo. Please contact the dealer and get it imported from Germany.

One more question.. did VW ever test the bonnet?? looks insane to me. Wipers can't be pulled off the glass and if bonnet opened, wiper scratches the bonnet. I guess Polo needs a single wiper like Etios.

No hard feelings at all. I know its the truth.
The Dealer wont be of much help for the plastics but Im sure they will replace the door beading under warranty.

Greenday,
Like I said the same has happened on my figo.

My old esteem also never had/has this issue with the unpainted plastics. I think the quality of plastic thats gone down with most of the newer cars. However the I havnt seen this happening on the Ritiz/swift and other new Maruti Suzuki cars.

Re: VW Polo - Bad plastics and rubber quality - German just by name??!

I definitely feel its not the Bangalore water. I have never seen such issues with any of my car's till date. I have many times washed with borewell water too.

Even if its got to do with the water, then its terrible quality. Car made for India and cannot tolerate our water when other cars can?

EDIT: Is this the case of severe cost cutting? On a funny note, like how they arrived at 3 pots instead of 4.

Yes Captain, as you say all cars these days give cheap plastics. Guess its the norm.

Oh Poloman, please! Why the hell will we use some chemicals or detergent to wash a car. Our cars are either washed by Amway Car wash or 3M.

Well, this is case with the Vento even. What were VW designers even thinking!

That looks like shoddy quality of beadings and plastics. I think Polo was the one which got praise for fit and finish and plastics

Very sorry to see the state of your Polo. But this is NOT the case with any other Polo. The quality is top notch! My Polo is 3 months old now and still looks brand new. The paint shines like brand new still.

It's hard to believe that VW would put such shoddy plastics in the Polo that they'd turn white. No offense, but it seems like the plastics have turned white due to hard water washing or some other chemical reaction. I might be wrong.

Well there's a small procedure to lift the wipers. It's called service position.
1. Turn on ignition.
2. Turn it off again.
3. tap the wiper stalk and it will come to service position.

Hope VW acknowledges your problem and gives you a replacement of plastics and rubber. Eager to know what the workshop says.

Ah raging bull, thanks for that. I have been thinking all the while I was driving back home, how can a big engineering company make such small mistakes. Your confirmation have saved me time, otherwise I would have been in search of Polo users who could show me how they open their bonnets without scratching off their paints

Yes, I agree that all might not be facing the "white plastics" issue. Hardly any Polo owners in this Forum. Who knows how many hundreds out of the thousands who bought the Polo are facing this problem.

Not many reviews of VW service as yet. Few dealers and many cars delivered. At least in Bangalore, Polo is becoming the next Swift!! Amazed by the sales.

All the best Greenday.

Interesting. Guess I'd have to eat my words. But why this complexity, I wonder.

Because it's "German Engineering".

Is it a defect rectified or is the wiper system really Engineered like that?

GreenDay, your post mentions you saw the car after an interval of one month. I am not passing any judgement. But it is quite unusual for a car of any make to end up in such a situation with in one month of delivery unless some thing drastically goes wrong.Today, half day I was at VW body shop and the place was teaming with Polos. I could not remember seeing any car (including accident cars having got dusted for long) in such bad condition.

I actively go through all the ownership threads of Polo and Vento owners.

I have subscribed around 10 POLO threads of AvonA7, Varun_jay, ankit_prashar, vipin_joshi, NevGin, anubhavraya, Chethan, theragingbull, uvmallya(phew he suffered a lot!) and yours of-course! I am very happy to see quite happy ownership threads. Hardly any threads out of 10 threads are active. Let me know if I missed any. Not sure of 25 Polo threads. All I see if FIGO and FIAT threads.

I contacted my Sales person in the Dealership. He has given me some directions of how to go about with A.S.S guys. Hope all goes well!

OMG, this looks absolutely bad especially the rubber. But i think this may be a one off case. You should just get them replaced ASAP.

I have heard Polo in general does not have much quality issues.

Quite unusual, vw should redeem themselves and take action, wonder what quality tests really happen!! Hope you get a resolution quickly
