Haven't gotten to writing it, but let me sum it up for you.
The Android unit has changed the face of in-car entertainment. Period.
Plays EVERY format, be it video or audio. Has decent audio quality (not for the audiophile, though, due to the lack of crossover settings)
Internet Radio: The next best thing to happen to man since the wheel. There is NO need to carry music with you! Just make your phone a wireless hotspot, activate the wifi in your head unit, and log in once. You are connected to the wifi every time you enter the car! OUTSTANDING! Even though quality of streaming music has a few strides to make, in comparison to high quality stored audio, it still does the job. It's available on demand and almost every song you want to listen to, is available. For everything else, there's YouTube. Yes, even YouTube works flawlessly!
Navigation is top-notch, and is as good as the app you choose. The NAVI button on the head unit is configurable, hence you can choose to open Google Maps, HERE maps or Sygic or MapMyIndia or whatever bakes your cake. The beauty of HERE maps is offline maps and is very nifty when you have poor network coverage or slow internet when you are on the move and need the maps the most.
Nice, BIG screen with capacitive touch (the same touch technology found in today's mobile phones) means very good touch response and above average sunlight visibility. Also, a 1024*600 resolution is unheard of, in branded aftermarket head units.
The unit has a storage space of 16 GB, has 3 USB slots and 2 SD card slots. USB hard drives are supported.
The interface is slick, and if you are used to an Android phone or tablet, you will feel at home.
The CANBUS integration is top-notch, and the head unit shows you which door is open (including the boot and the bonnet) Even the instrument cluster doesn't manage to show this information.
Battery charge status, car RPM, odd reading and amount of fuel left in the tank are all the other features that are in built into this big boy.
The reversing camera deploys automatically, when the car is put into reverse gear and the quality from the DHC camera installed by me is top-notch. VERY useful.
The head unit DIMS THE MUSIC while reversing and there is an option to either dim the music to a particular level (6 levels to select from) or switch it off, or not dim it at all. This is a feature not present in the current head unit. It's very nifty and helps you hear the muffled reversing sensors.
Video quality is top-notch and it plays EVERY format under the sun. Again, remember, it's Android. There's an APP for everything!
Negatives:
1. Poor sound customisation options.
2. Bluetooth mic quality not 100%
3. Confusing to install, if you don't look at the labels on the myriad wires.
4. Lots of clutter behind the head unit, including a plastic (read: Rattles) CANBUS box
5. I had to reset it once, when it came back from the A.S.S. I am sure the people at the workshop had a good time playing with the settings.
6. Caller name shows on the head unit only if you sync contacts onto the head unit (which is going to happen if you input your Google account)
7. Bluetooth music interface is not very cool.
8. Lollipop update future not very sure.
Have taken some screenshots in the head unit and need to transfer to the USB drive. Will do it and post here this week...
