Nashik Trip;

Last weekend some of my college friends had planned a trip to Nashik for a night stay. This was one of the few times the fortuner was loaded with 7 passengers & their luggage. Overall it was a really joyous drive as nh3 is always a pleasure to drive on.

For this trip I was running 31psi & I believe was interestingly comfortable with load + providing great grip on Kasara sections.

Some pics;

I know there has been a controversy about the LED headlights of this new gen Fortuner, but overall i have always found them to be fantastic, particularly in these kinda situations;

On a highway with oncoming traffic people have reported an issue. Toyota says these LED's are designed not to be too harsh for the oncoming traffic hence does it mean the other cars lights are too harsh ? Not sure ! I feel the LED's are just adequate :thumbs up

Total Distance Travelled was aprox 360 kms with a FE of 10.2 km/l.

25k Service;

Recently the car crossed 25,000 km on the odo & was time for the service. Booked an appointment with Millenium Toyota Thane for the same & sent the car in around 11am.
As this was a minor service hence it was more of a check up inspection, top up & wash. Also a precautionary taping of engine wiring harness was carried out as a part of the recall campaign. All this was done within 2 hrz.

Also, the service guys were delighted to see the BF Goodrich tyre setup :D

Total cost Rs 1552/- (Incl. Taxes)

Job Well Done :thumbs up

Just did an in depth Review of the BF Goodrich T/A KO2 tyres & opened a new thread here;

Bangalore has India's largest network of Shell pumps and I used to be their regular customer for quite some time, however, didn't notice any significant difference in the performance/FE.

What is the price difference there between Shell and the other PSUs?

Not sure about the price difference but IIRC the regular diesel cost aprox 68.xx / litre at this Shell outlet.

What would your input be on the performance of the BF Goodrich's on wet roads(if u have had a chance to test them on wet roads) compared to your older H/T setup?

The wet weather performance is better than the H/T on the aquaplaning front, Overall i hadn't really had to change my driving style to adopt to these A/T tyres to be honest.

Also you can check out my detailed review of these BFG T/A KO2 tyres in this thread;

Update: 30k Service;

It was time for the major 30,000 km service & hence booked an appointment at the Millenium Toyota Express service yesterday morning & requested a same day appointment (3pm) which they agreed :thumbs up

^ Slightly on the higher side this time as this was the 1st time the Air Filter (INR 1575) was replaced to a new one.

This leads me to believe that you do not feed your Fortuner with synthetic oil. Any specific reason for sticking to mineral oil?

I would urge you to reconsider filling Shell diesel, the premium one,especially.

Toyotas and Shell diesel aren't made for each other.

IL switch to synthetic oil by 50k kms. No particular reason but I believe by then the switch will be more noticeable.

Similarly Shell too I put regular diesel not VPower.
Also can you please elaborate on your statement " Toyotas and Shell diesel aren't made for each other " ?
