Re: The Island Gurkha | My 2021 Grey Force Gurkha 4x4 in the Andamans | Ownership Review

Excellent photos and video. Django is getting used to the boots still, I think.

Question: Why is that belt hanging below the Drive Shaft? Also, got confused about the DRLs making a trail and had to watch the video in Slo-Mo

The DRL trail is just a reflection on the lens.

The 'belt' is a strong U bracket provided to give protection to the transmission components from underbody damage.

Looking at your photo, first thought come to my mind that Force Motor should use them for the marketing.

Fantastic photography. Gurkha is looking stunning in all photos. Which cam?

Excellent travelog Vignesh! I am truly bitten by the Gurkha bug and finances and God willing perhaps some day as a pre owned beauty!

I've read good things about NHOU as it is used for undercoating in the snow + salt double whammy conditions in the USA. Perhaps you can try importing https://nhoilundercoating.com/

Yes, even I love them. They are called alpine windows. From the internet -

A defining feature of all Defenders, Alpine windows in the upper-rear roof area are specially designed to let light into the cabin. The Alpine name also alludes to their original purpose - offering scenic views when touring mountain ranges

Re: The Island Gurkha | My 2021 Grey Force Gurkha 4x4 in the Andamans | Ownership Review

Out of all the threads I've read here on this forum, this has got to be the BEST thread I've ever come across. The sheer amount of preparedness, passion for the vehicle itself, and the way you have maintained contacts with all the higher ups till the vehicle had reached you is just, is much more than amazing. This probably is the top thread in my opinion. The one where a rare Ducati was rescued by a couple of brothers is right next to this one.

By far this has got to be the most comprehensive thread on this beast of a vehicle. Every aspect you've shown, explained and DIFFERENTIATED it from other prevalent names, is just eye-opening. Why this, and why not others, it's just been beautifully explained by you.

Hats off to you, sir!

Thanks a lot saitvsk23
Firstly thanks for taking time to read through the entire post.
Second, thanks for your kind words and encouragement. It’s such feedback which makes all the effort of penning it down truly worthwhile.
As a thank you , I’ll post an interesting update in the evening.

Re: The Island Gurkha | My 2021 Grey Force Gurkha 4x4 in the Andamans | Ownership Review

Django got wheel alignment done this evening at JK tyres Wheel Center which is the only computerised wheel alignment Center AFAIK in Andamans.

The guys at the shop were hesitant looking at the Gurkha as it was the first time they were encountering a beast and that too a Gurkha.

I have generally observed, even in company workshops, that specialist skill levels are below average in the island due to lesser exposure to variety, training and experience.

There is general lower confidence levels to handle new jobs also. I assured them that all will be well and showed them the values in the Owners manual for reference. They proceeded to do a fine job with some reassuring pat on the back from me.

The belt is used to prevent the drive shaft from falling to the ground in case the spider joint breaks. It's a safety feature and can be seen in many rear wheel driven cars that have a propellor shaft.

Without that loop around the shaft the vehicle could overturn while being driven and in case the spider joint broke.

That is what I know of this, how Gurkha folks have out it to use is something they can only explain.

It's akin to what happens if you forget to pull the side stand on a two wheeler and it acts an anchor if you turn.

Never would i expect a product from the little state of New Hampshire would be mentioned on Team Bhp. Salt eating vehicles up is a big issue in the north east.

Amazing set of pictures of the Gurkha.

Dear Vignesh,

Firstly, what an amazing write-up of your beast (I don't know how I missed it for so long). I am also from the islands and am extremely proud to know there are a few of us on this forum.

A couple of Sundays ago my friends and I were discussing how there is no new Gurkha on the road and lo and behold we cross paths with your behemoth. Saw your beast on our sole highway and it looked gorgeous.

Being from Port Blair I can completely relate to all your issues regarding the quality of service and knowledge of workers. The folks at Honda were kind enough to help me out with my wheel alignment.

We should plan a meet up of some sort. What do you say?

Hi Bhasker, so nice to see fellow islander here.

Yes, I do remember your vehicle blinking headlights at me as a Hi! when we crossed paths near Ograbraj.

As the only Gurkha on the island, Django has become quite popular and instantly recognisable, (well you know how small our town is) .I have few folks who called out Django! yesterday by name when I had gone for wheel alignment. And they said they had spotted Django near Delanipur a few days ago and had curiously read up about it online. They have been waiting to chat up with me and were happy to cross paths at Jk wheels Sippighat.

So nice to see here and we should catch up sometime surely.

FORCE GURKHA - SPECIAL VEHICLES DIVISION

Django wears his second set of badges.

One goes below the engine badging in the cutout beneath the snorkel.
Second one goes behind the tail gate below the only Force badging.
