K_AJAY@ Good job.. you did the same what I thought of doing this morning but just couldn't as been out of office to town whole day.. nevertheless we think alike and that's what matters.

MADRASH@ REG THE BLOWER: I had been facing the problem of the AC blower right from the 1st month itself. Initially it was a minor squeak but latter it started getting louder. Than during my 1st service I pointed out the problem and they fixed it. Only to find out 4 days later that it started to re-appear. First I thought there something wrong with my left side suspension as the noise was different this time. But, I lived with the noise for atleast about 4 months until I gave my car for the 2nd service, but prior to that I emailed to Skoda India and complained them about the noise, the very same day I got a call from them enquiring more about the problem am facing. They immediately asked their dealer to call me, In this case the same dealer I give my car for the service, also plus point was I was already friendly with the Senior Service Advisor, who immediately called up saying that he got the call from Skoda and he assured he would personally look into the problem and get it rectified.

So the next week I went gave my car for the service. I was informed that last time they tried to fix the problem by tightening or putting the bracket plate of the blower. But, since the problem re-occurred they would try to change the blower. Finally they changed the blower and did the service the next day.
So far have driven almost 5000 kms after that but not a single noise coming from the dash. And it has made my drive much more peaceful.
So try insisting on asking to change the blower, and be stern with them and warn them that you wouldn't want to hear that noise again. ALL THE BEST !

UPDATE ON MY CAR @ Lately I have been having some issues with the pick up where don't see her shoot the same she use to shoot before. This has been going since a week. Feel the lag is back again that had almost disappeared. The throttle pedal feels dead to me initially. I strongly feel it could be my MAF sensor, which is a sensor that sends the signal to the ECU for the amount of air being sucked in and accordingly sends the fuel supply to the engine thus helping it to optimise the air fuel ratio. Anyways will be getting it cleaned tomorrow. Hope to find back the lost wolf in sheep clothing again.

BOMBAY MEET@ Well don't see it happening any soon. Not even sure how many here are from bbay except for Naikpranav.

The difference in my case is that they have not changed the blower. They say that they want to show the car to a Skoda technician (a Mr. Bhushan, who never seems to be in town). I have been to the workshop so many times that the manager has literally become my friend. Ajay can vouch for it. I too have written twice to Skoda with positive response but it ends there. If I go by the Manger's words, they have not fixed the problem in anybody's car and I don't want them to try first hand on my car. Maybe I'll try VKJ's dealer, but will wait for his report first . The last time they really disappointed me and I felt like blowing someone with jab-cross. Instead of fixing the problem they managed to introduce more noise. Thankfully the new noise seems to have died in the Kodaikanal-Munnar trip. It must have got a good shaking . I would rather stay away from those idiots for something that I can live with.

BTW there has been a positive update on the other thread about Skoda. Mr. Thomas of Skoda met with three of the Tbhp moderators. Great Work TBHP.

Sir, I noticed a squeaking loud noise from the dash. I went to the dealer 3 weeks before to check it. Since Invinsible already updated us about the defective part, I mentioned about it to the service guy and he confirmed it. After waiting for the part, I left my car yesterday for replacement.

Yesterday evening the service advisor called me and dropped a bomb. He said since I did my first service @ 11,300 KMs, Skoda could refuse to cover this under warranty. In that case they could charge me for this replacement. Lets see what happens.

That's interesting. The AC blower is defective and the car is still under warranty so they should fix it under warranty.

I think these guys need some serious spanking.

Anyway, get your car serviced at recommended intervals. These people are known for playing tricks like these. BTW what amount have they quoted?

VKJ: No worries, mate. These things happen in the best of circles- and the Fabiosi IS one of the best! Anyway, there's always another sunny Sabbath, another wayside cafe, another highway to cruise...and not to forget the repartee- whence like Jap tourists we shall roll up with our pixel-grabbing voyeuristic devices, full of Czech fun and optimism (don't know if they are of the sunny disposition out there, so let's allow it as poetic licence), cold calls, hot claims and much more.

Hi everyone:
I took the car from the service station on Saturday evening. There is no noise from the dash right now. and its covered under the warrenty.
To replace the A/C blower motor they completely removed the dash fixed again. Next day I found few screws left in the cup holder. Not sure how good they fixed the dash back.

My car's right ORVM's mirror fell off few weeks back. To replace it they charged me Rs. 1685 for the mirror alone.

MadRash: Your Rear View Mirror fell off? What next? Was it the entire housing they replaced or just the glass?

Few screws left over: I got something to say about that, but tis censored

I'm glad they covered you under the warranty, though.

Guys: sorry for having intruded and thanks for giving me the elbow room. Crux is the Benz CLK I posted about couple of days back is Sold! Thanks.

Yesterday I got a PM from "Skoda Corporate", the one who threatend to "instigate" TBHP and its users. It was in response to a post that I had made a month ago regarding the sloppy A.S.S (on the other thread). They have asked for my contact details so that they can get in touch with me to resolve my concerns. Interesting ! Let's see what follows.

@MadRash: Good your problem is fixed without much dent in your pocket. How did the mirror fall?

wakey wakey guys..seems early birds got here. I couldn't log into the forum due to some unexpected things that came my way and yes, for the first time, there seems to be a gap between the posts.

@madrash, 1685 for the mirror alone?? last week, a person who was rushing to catch the bus to moon gave a heavy knock on my right RVM as he tried to overtake me. luckily, the RVM just moved to the other end and it went off without a scratch. I should say that the build is pretty strong. touch wood.is the AC blower change option valid for everyone?please throw some light into it

screws left behind in cup holder?? then what else did they screw up??or what got screwed? its time that these guys tighten the nuts.

@ robin, please do convey all the issues reported by fabiosis when u get a chance

went to shykrishs home on saturday and saw his silver baby. it's nearing 30000Km in just 1.4 months and looks polished except for few 'calling cards/marks" left by cats and an envious bull. talked to General NC same evening as he was relaxing in home listening to few guitar strings

Hey, Good to know your dashboard issues is solved now. And don't worry about the left over screws, with the new blower/kit it comes with it's own screws which is was they use to fix it, and leave the screws from the older blower/kit, I too had the screws in my car. And got the conformation from the Manager not to worry about it.

If that's the price for just the Mirror and I wonder what would they charge for the front windscreen incase of damage.

ROBIN@ That's great they atleast they have started taking the initiative of solving the issues, but I wonder if it's just limited to the forum guys or even people outside who are dissatisfied with the job.
Just don't forget to give them list of each and every problem you are facing.
I am too thinking of sending her a PM regarding my center console box making some rattle noise, once in a while, gets very annoying at times.
Please post how the talk went with them?

MYSTICEYES@ Yes, the AC blower replacement is open to everyone. Infact Skoda has rectified this problem and have asked every dealer to change incase anyone comes with a complain. This problem is also faced with cars sold in European countries. So, I say go ahead and insist on a change with the dealer.

The cost of the windscreen is 7,123/- as per ACI March Issue. Taxes, Sealent Solution (Approx 3 grands), Labour extra.

The mirror fell off when a new honda city's ORVM dashed against mine. In a four lane road without the median, he crossed the line to overtake a car. To my left a 2 wheeler was very close to the car so I wasnt able to avoid the hit. The ORVM had a good spring effect but in the impact the mirror fell off. I dont know what damage the other car suffered.

Just to give an idea of how much the spares costs:
5 months back, my car met with a small accident. My brother was driving the car. It was a two lane country side road. A moped guy was on the left side of the road. My bro was about to overtake the moped. All of a sudden it started raining, the moped guy in an attempt to take shelter under a tree on the right side of the road, took a steep lane change. Bro wasn't able to avoid the collision hit the moped. Nothing happed to the rider and the moped. But the car had a severe damage (blame it on the pedestrian safety). It hit exactly on the left front corner so the damage was more.
I ended up changing the fender, bumper, left ORVM, windshield, one headlight, headlight bulb and some tinkering & painting job. Total bill came for a whopping 75K and I paid around 15K as my share.

Following were the prices of few parts.

Whindshield - 9000
Head light - 7000
Bumper - 9000
ORVM housing
& mirror - 4500
Left fender - 5500

All are approx prices as the invoice listed the gross & VAT seperately.

Oh. We should start compiling an Excel sheet with the cost of various spares as disinterred by our Fabiosi. That way we'll all get a fix of what depth of pocket is needed to fix X or Y. It could also prevent dealers from taking a member for a ride.

Next level could be city-wise comparison so a Fabia left fender costs as much in Madras as Bombay.

A question in more general vein, perhaps rhetorical: are costs being padded to pull one over the Insurance companies? It's happening in the Medical field for sure.

Invinsible sir, are you sure the ac blower replacement is a Skoda approved blanket change for all their Fabia customers? How does one identify if the blower does indeed have a problem, so that it needs to be changed??

I can say that the air blower on speed 1 has reduced or is considerably low, and is faint, for the summer... Do you think it needs to be checked or replaced?? And does the vehicle need to be given overnight for the change?

Very interesting.. I am keen to know how Skoda will action their idea to help solve your after sales concerns.

[Huh... How much english is written here... A simple 'That's ok, we can sure meet the coming week or one after' would have sufficed... Hmmm but then Jeeves and his 'oh-so-simple-to-understand' words.... Man don't you ever get tired writing ] Run, aK, Run..
