I cant help but contain myself. But here we go, for all those interested in Automatic Transmissions. i-20 AT will be released with a 1.4l engine delivering 100 PS.

This is probably the best time in all of modern Indian automotive history, for Indian buyers. Very powerful and very frugal diesels, in stunning looking automobiles - which can be purchased by normal people.

KP,
Thanks a lot for confirming 90bhp i20 CRDi details.
SID - Where are you ? we need a i20 CRDi scoop. Still not too late.

We are expecting a detail review from GTO and a comparison of Punto MJD with i20 CRDi.

If Hyundai tags this sensibly, then Punto MJD or i20 CRDi will rule the hatch segment.

Imporant to note is that i20 CRDI is 150 kgs more heavier than i20 1.2 petrol. Therefore even though the engine is more frugal than the petrol, it still lacks the spirited driving feel offered by Swift Diesel or Getz for that matter.

The petrol 1.4 on the other hand faster than 1.2 kappa, needs to be worked at a certain RPM for power delivery. It has more power but the 1.2 seems more eager to deliver the power it has vis a vis the 1.4 which requires more gear changes. In India thoguh we would be just getting 1.4 petrol automatic mated with a 4 speed auto tranny. I just hope it doesnt give pathetic mileage like i10 auto.

Interesting comparo between Jazz auto, i20 1.4 auto and Fabia auto (UK Spec) has confirmed my fears. The i20 with fixed ratios and 4 speed auto tranny (perhaps same as doing duty on i10) gives the worst in gear accerlation figures and the kickdown is very pronounced. Couple that with the poorest FE of the three at 30.2 mpg (british gallon at 4.5 ltrs).

Aseem, Just a point here. The website doesnt seem to discuss the CRDI i20 atall. So FE is not a point and also not sure if this article concludes what you have here

I was refering to the i20 Petrol Auto. And the earlier link mentioned had the link to read the complete review which can be found here:

Hyundai i20 Comfort | Car Group Tests | Car Reviews | Auto Express

Which essentially cofirms my fears about i20 Petrol Auto mileage.

That is sure to happen until they start offering 5 speed auto like Honda or 6 speed auto like Skodas DSG (and Fiat Dualogic, not yet in India).

Great first impressions there KP. The i20 now surely is the pick of the curent premium hatches. Did you get a chance to glance at the tyre - wheel specs? Did the Asta CRDi have the same 185/65 R14 Apollos like the i20 1.2?

The prices and website are already up since hours and the thread in Indian Car Scene is already discussing the cars:
