Oh, blast! You beat me to it Varun - I was hoping I could get the first cruze on T-BHP :-( Jokes apart, Congrats on your buy. It does look amazing in white!

It is day 7 for me after making the full payment - still no Cruze. The dealers keep changing their stand on when the delivery date will be. The last I have got is the 28th (fingers firmly crossed).

Trivandrum prices are:
Ex-showroom price:12,48,387
Insurance:42,262
Roadtax & Regn: 78,760
Total:13,69,409

I am confused about the insurance amount though - can the rates vary so much. Someone else mentioned their quote was 27k. Was this with a no-claims bonus? otherwise will the rates vary so much

I guess the insurance quotes vary. Please look into the details of the policy, or trust your agent (for me- I have one agent for all our insurances- right from car, factory, etc. etc.) Mine was around 31.5k and it was comparable to other companies. Please check this-

But on the serious note, any kids in the car would need to be sent to the back seat to make sure their fiddling doesnt turn the car on or off.
I have checked the operations guide. The car does not stop if the start/stop button is pressed when in motion. Apologies for the mis-information there.

Waiting for a ton of pics.
I am ok with the tyres as of now. No problems as of now. Hence I shall stick to it. But I am really tempted to change the brand name.

Pics, Videos following soon.

Hi Rosh2
The insurance amount quoted to you by the show room is correct but what they are not telling you is that there is a discount of upto 40 to 50% that can be offered on the base amount.
I enquired outside from independent insurance people and the quote that I got was in the vicinity of 27K.
After I told this to the sales guy he offered me a 30% discount I told him to give me a 45% or else I get it from outside (which he cannot deny), all he could manage was a sheepish smile.
Hers is something interesting though, he told me there is different product that they are going to introduce for the cruze, a zero maintenance scheme. The advantage of this scheme is that you get 100% cover on plastic/fiber parts aswell at a slightly higher premium. This scheme I will confirm later after I have all the details.
Do not pay the amount the dealer is telling you at all.
I came to know about this on t-bhp and it has paid up, thanks to rjvora.
Check threads related to insurance on this forum and you will be enlightened.
Cheers

Couldn't understand this, can you please elaborate? Is there some sort of distortion in the windscreen at night?

PS: Take it easy, don't treat her like a TD/Demo car

Congrats for your purchase. This car is awesome in just about every aspect! GM really has provided good warranty cover with this. This car picks up speed in no time so drive responsibly! Happy motoring!

PS: Don't go for PSi type chip tuning else you'll void the warranty. I have confirmed it with my Chevy dealer. I was about to do the same with my Captiva LTZ but decided against it as long as the car is in warranty period.

of course no manufacture will honor the warranty if u add a tuning box. What most(99%) in India who have the box do is that they remove the box when they give it for service. Its just plug n play which hardly takes 10 mins. The service people will have no idea u had a tuning box . But one thing for sure dont add the box before running in the engine.

Whoa! Congrats dude- that's a sweet, hot, smokin' ride! Keep her good, run her in proper and dont give test drives till 5k on the clock

I have a feeling that the engine will free up a lot after 7.5k or so on the clock, and the turbo lag should not be that visible- or your driving style would be so used to the car that you wont feel it by then anyways

Thats what I felt yesterday. But, today i drove for more than an hour. Didnt notice any out of the blue. So I guess its all ok.
And I sure have started 'running in' the car and not taking it beyond 2.5 to 3k rpm.

I am not going for the tuning chip. Especially after reading the posts here. I ll think of it after the warranty expires.

I am thinking of putting white lights instead of yellow. I mean white bulbs and not the entire xenon kit. Can anyone give some 'gyan' on this?

personally , I think that while bulbs are less effective than the normal yellow ones unless going for xenons , my friend tried osram ones on his baleno with the relay and everything , his visibility actually decreased , so wouldnot recommend them .

videos

ok, finally I have managed to shoot a small video. Its with the car in motion, and me describing some features of it. Very amateur, but would add more interesting videos on Sunday.
Please find the video on youtube-

A friend of mine who owns a Jetta for the last 1 year drove the car. Please find his feedback in video- when he is driving the car-
