Hampi Om Beach Pics Contd.

Pic 1: Climbing down a small hill to get to the beach.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0054.jpg

Pic 2: Om Beach is called so, because it looks like the symbol OM. If it doesn't look like OM symbol to you, turn around, stand on your head and look at this photo. See?

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04221.jpg

Pic 3: Hey, I haven't uploaded my photo at all so far. So here I am, crouching down in between a cow and a buffalo.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04225.jpg

Pic 4: Water splashing against the rocks. Need a better camera to make it look good though.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04233.jpg

Pic 5: Jagga goes all the way there to get a shot.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04227.jpg

Pic 6: But all he manages to do is take this photo from that rock. Risking life & limb to get this shot? Hmm I'm not sure.

Pic 7 : Because of the rains, water is dark & sandy. We stay dry!

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0067.jpg

Pic 8: Finally, we decide to go home. I make a 10-point U-turn on that narrow Kutcha track. We decide to go to Mangalore first, and then drive down to Bangalore. In those days, Mangalore to Bangalore highway was in an excellent condition, and driving in the rains was a bliss.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04238.jpg

Pic 9: At a restaurant, I order Mango Juice and find this fly at the bottom. Being a budding businessman & taking inspiration from the Ambanis, I sucked the mango juice out of the fly before throwing it away.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-dsc04234.jpg

Pic 10: We manage to reach Hassan by 1:00 AM, stay there for the night, and reach Bangalore the next day.

I used to stay next to Karwar. Every time I visit that area, its Kamat !
Parking space is like the one at Rangantitthu as shown in another ongoing travelogue

Coming up next, our family trip to Himvad Gopalaswamy Betta (Misty Hill). Gopalaswamy Betta is close to the Bandipur National Park, just off the Mysore - Ooty highway.

Pic 1: There were 5 of us for the trip. At the front, Bro in the driving seat & saaala in the passenger seat. At the back, I am on the left hand side, wife in the middle and Aks (my mother-in-law's daughter's father's sister's daughter) on the right hand side.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030037.jpg

Pic 2: Just after Gundlupet, we take a right turn on a narrow road that will get us to our destination.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030044.jpg

Pic 3, 4 & 5: I guess we look like a bunch of college kids planning to wreak havoc in the jungle. So at the checkpost at the bottom of the hill, the guards spend 5 minutes checking every bit of the car looking for liquor bottles. They even double-check one of our college bags with a perplexed look on their faces.

Pic 6: Like all the hills, this one too has a temple at the top.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030061.jpg

Pic 7: Looks like I have a very radiant personality - the gang unable to look at me in the eye.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030062.jpg

Pic 8: Being close to Bandipur National Park, we immediately spot some wildlife.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030068.jpg

Pic 9: We also spot the rare (in the wild) Felis Catus

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030069.jpg

Pic 10: Beyond the temple, there is a path that leads us to the forest. Elephant trenches have been dug some distance from here so that they don't come visiting the temple.

Isn't your mother-in-law's daughter's father your Father-in-law?
Or is it that he disowned you after you tried to run him over?

Thanks pulsar56 & nix1976in - glad to know that 100,000 km x Rs. 4 per km = Rs. 4 Lacs has not gone for a waste.

Thank you amit_3306 & ampere. By the way, this travelogue to Gopalaswamy Betta will have more faces/people pics, rather than the usual scenary/events pics. There is not much to see or do at this place. But don't worry - I will try not to put too many of my photos

Pic 1: Bro finds a boulder, climbs on it and checks it stability.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0902.jpg

Pic 2: It's safe! You can come aboard now.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0903.jpg

Pic 3: So we get on that rock. It looked romantic and "cute" then, but the photo looks a bit dumb now.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0906.jpg

Pic 4: We then take atleast 10 shots like this one, but none of them have all 4 of us in the air at the same time.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0915.jpg

Pic 5: Finally we get this one. Atleast everybody has one feet in the air.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0921.jpg

Pic 6: Meanwhile, my brother-in-law SuDeer spots a spotted Deer.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-img_0910.jpg

Pic 7: I use my extra-long arms to take a self-shot. Note the jerks fooling around on our rock (in pic 1 & 2) behind us.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030095.jpg

Pic 8: Trekking is allowed in the jungles with prior permission from the forest officials. You will also have a forest guard with you during the trek, as a guide & for safety.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030096.jpg

Pic 9: One girl climbs on top of the largest rock..

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030099.jpg

Pic 10: .. and the second one follows.

100,000 kms on Indian Highways, 6 treks & a Couple of Flights-p3030100.jpg
