As far as the claims made by your tyre shop guy, I have my doubts. These people will try their best to sell you the brand which guarantees maximum commission and I am saying this from experience. Do your research on the net and only then take the decision. And when you do zero in on a particular brand, stand your ground when dealing with the tyre shop owners. You won't believe it but when I visited this tyre shop in Karol Bagh, New Delhi (from where I got the Kendas) the owner for around HALF AN HOUR tried convincing me to go for Apollo tyres. I know you must be curious why was I entertaining him for that long. Well, that's the part of their plan. When I asked for Kendas, he said the stock was in his warehouse nearby and he would arrange them within 10 minutes. I confirmed and asked him to proceed. He made a few calls and informed me that the tyres were on their way. It was now that he started prodding me and what a barrage of questions came my way. From where did you learn about Kendas? How much is your budget? And the OBVIOUS question Why don't you go for "branded" tyres? This went on for half an hour and mind you the tyres were supposed to take just ten minutes to arrive. He was hellbent on selling me Apollos but I was very affirmative that I wanted Kendas. In the end he had no choice but to relent. So, the bottom line is that don't trust the tyre shop guys unless he is known to you and knows the business inside out because we Indians have an opinion on every thing under the sun. | ![]() Thanks Raghavsr. @Abhinav - he didn't have Kendas. He had Falkens, but was pushing for Bridgestones (b290). Thanks for sharing your purchase experience. captain.torque. This will help me fending off unnecessary convincing tactics. ![]() Actually this happened to me as well when I went to purchase valves for my tyres. 2 valves had craked and air was leaking. I was looking for a particular valve, which he didn't have in stock, but promised to arrange within 10 mins. He sent a guy on a cycle to get it from the warehouse. Meanwhile he convinced me to buy the ones he had there at the shop. haha. And I agreed. And soon the guy who had gone to the warehouse comes back grinning and empty handed, saying the valves weren't there. I have shortlisted Kenda Komet and Falken sincera. Will update this thread once I make the purchase. Thanks a lot guys!! Last edited by sinhead : 21st October 2015 at 00:55. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() I have a set of Kenda Komet tyres on my Indigo. I've done almost 8K on them so far, mostly highway runs. They perform very well, with good grip but they have a slightly harsher ride overall. I went for this brand as it was the one recommended to my dad by an Uber driver. I have them in 185/65-R14 on 6J alloy wheels, which is taller than the stock 175/65-R14. They were priced at Rs. 2600/- each. The advantage I've felt is that they're a lot more tolerant to potholes. I've lost count of the number of potholes I've hit at 80-90 kph, and there's not even a mark on them. The dealer advised me to run a pressure of at least 32psi on them, as they tended to wear out the edges more. Indigo's recommended pressure is 27 psi. I run them at 30, as I hardly ever have a full load of people in the car. There's not visible wear so far, and they look brand new. The cabbies say they last a good 50k kms, and I don't doubt them. I think they're okay tires. This is not my first set of Chinese tyres. Earlier I used to have a brand called Acelera in 185/65-R14. They lasted only 25000 kms, but that was mostly because I didn't know about the need to run them at a higher pressure. The sides wore out almost completely while the centre had a good amount of tread left. The ride was also a lot better, and so was the grip. IMO, if you're going for these tyres, you might as well get them in a wider size. The price increase is not that much, and the extra contact patch offers more peace of mind. | ![]() Hey guys, Can someone shed light on the latest feedback on Kenda Komets? I am planning to upgrade to these for my NHC and would like to hear if any problems surfaced or if they have been really VFM. Appreciate a prompt response as I am just a click away from ordering those. Thanks, J ![]() |

| ![]() I am using Kenda tyres on my Honda city ZX. The tyres make lesser noise than the Bridgestone. They are cheap and offer good ride. They dont puncture easily. I have used them for 8,000 Kms and not even a single puncture or deformity. But recently I went to Udaipur from Mumbai and returned to Mumbai via Ahmedabad. The ride was good on the highways and could manage speeds above 120 Kmph. While driving from Ahmedabad to Mumbai i started feeling a little wobbling. First I thought that I am on high speed so there may be some wheel balance issue as sometimes the weights fly away at high speeds. But with passing distance this wobbling increased. On reaching home I got the tyres checked and found that the Kenda tyre on the front right had developed a deformity due to passage of air into the tyre thread area. It means that on high speeds the tyres must be getting hot and one of the Kenda tyres could not cope up with the heat and so developed a weak patch into which air leaked creating a bulge. But other three tyres are doing a wonderful job. One puncture walla suggested to put a tube in the bulging tubeless tyre, puncture the bulge and it will become usable, else I will have to buy a new tyre. I dont know if that is possible. |

| ![]() I bought new Kenda tyres for all the four wheels of my Honda City ZX. The tyres are noise free and have nice grip but they are not meant for higher speeds. I had hardly used these for about 3500 Kms and on my trip to Udaipur from Mumbai during winter holidays, one of the tyres developed a bulge. I doubt it can be due to fast speeds of 130 Kmph on highway and generation of some heat. I wrote to changemytyre.com for replacement but they did not even bother to reply. I think for city use these tyres are good but not strong enough to face the fast speeds and long runs on a highway. |

| ![]() Hi All, Good day to you. I was about to buy Kenda Kaiser KR-20 (205/60 R14) tyres. I read many of you have commented on Kenda Komet. I liked the design of KR-20 and saw them on couple of cars in Bangalore. This week I wanna finalize on tyres as the following week will be on a highway trip. Kindly throw some light on these tyres as well. Thank you. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() How are these kenda tyres? Anybody using them? Pricing seems to be very tempting for the 205/65/15 @ 2900/-,Contemplating buying two of them, would you guys share your experiences on them please. |

| ![]() Did you by any chance get these tyres? If so, what's your feedback? I have these on my old Indica but then it never goes beyond the city. I am concerned about the highway manners for my second car. |

Before purchasing them, I researched reviews from India and the UK and they seem to be quite well liked. Other brands like Pirelli and Goodyear were over 8 to 9 thousand for this size. Hence even if they last two years, I will be happy. My Jetta has Pirelli P7s and before that I had Goodyear and these Kendas are quieter than both of those brands. I am a careful driver and I never speed, take hard corners or push the vehicle in any way. Hence my only concern is overall safety as in the tyre should not fall apart and braking. Since Kenda is an established Taiwanese company, I assumed its products would be as good as other big brands. I will update this review after some months when I have driver more on these tyres. | ![]() I have completed about 4000 kms now. Just got back from a road trip to the Himalayas. No issues at all. The tyres are quiet. The grip seems good and they still look new. Keep in mind though that I am a very careful driver. I never speed, take hard corners or push the vehicle in any way. Still I don't think the Kendas are any less than other brands for normal driving.
