Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Need to change the tyres on my car. Had done on 55K on XM1+. Earlier tyres were XM1 which were changed in 44K. Question to experts!
1. Over the course of time the service centers in Chennai had started doing a 4 wheel rotation as opposed to 5 wheel which has resulted in the spare tyre only doing less than 10K. can I keep the spare XM1+ and change to XM2 for others?
2. What would be the approximate cost of 195-60-R14 tyre in Chennai? I used Tyrestore but that is inside the city and I might not be able to spend that much time. Any other place recommended in South Chennai?

Check Tyrzus.in
They are in villivakkam near Anna nagar and I went there paid cash and had them do the fitting at my house. They have a fully equipped van and do balancing and fitting onsite.
Their rates are lower than others and also offer a buy back for employees of certain firms as an additional discount.
I purchased goodyears for my Qualis as my XM1+ lasted only 38k with only city driving. I changed two at about 38k and stretched two more to 40k.
I got the new tyres on Monday this week...

How is the feedback on the xm2 in 185/60/15 on the polo? Is it worth the change from new stock alnacs?

What is the schedule for the stock size in ps2 as in a launch date? Vw says I will loose the suspension warranty by upsizing the tyres to 195

Thanks

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Hey folks. I am planning to change my stock tyre on my i20 Asta to the Michelin XM2. I got a quote of 4950 per tyre. Is that the usual price. Should i shop around for more prices? Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Vikram, I have an Asta too. Are you going for an upgrade or is it the same stock spec? Also how many KMs did your first set do before they needed to be changed?

That depends on the tyre size you're looking for. Couple of weeks back I got 185 X 70 X 14 for 4900 each but then it was at Bangalore. Moreover my old tyre was taken for 150 each again this depends on amount of thread left on your existing one. Check the MRP of the tyre you buy and request for 5% discount.

Cheers!

I wont completely disagree that there are advantages of an upsize but I feel the Asta already came with decent tires. In my opinion the 185s are sufficient.

I asked you because my car has done around 25K and the tires are not looking good. Calcutta roads have become very very very bad lately. The other day I went for a puncture repair and they pointed out four punctures in the same tire. I am a bit worried about my car.

Re: Michelin XM2 Tyres in India

Hey guys,

I'm planning to change my 40k run stock tyres on my Polo Trendline which currently has 175/70/R14s.

I want to get Michelin XM2s since 2-3 people I know have Michelin tyres and they've managed to get 60-70k out of them. Durability is a big concern for me. I don't drive too fast except sometimes.

The 2 sizes that are available in the XM2s which seem appropriate(<2-3% increment in size) are 175/65/R15 and 185/70/R14. Which ones would you guys recommend. I have little or no experience in this and I'm not looking for a radical change in performance. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you!

It's good. No PS2/3 coming anytime soon in that size.

XM2 in 185/60-15 is quite decent. No major worries

Although not on a Polo, I've used the XM2 Tyres on a Vento with no performance complaints for the short while I had them.
This size will likely never be sold in PS2 / PSS.
The warranty issue is dealer dependent. I have had no issues when I switched out the XM2s in favour of 205/60R15 PP2s on the Vento.

There are various advantages and practically no disadvantages, especially if you benefit with more Ground Clearence and are willing to get a new set of wheels.

Here are the diameters of the sizes you mentioned and a few others, with remarks:

175/70R14 - 600.60mm (-0.40%; Approved Stock Size).
185/60R15 - 603.00mm (Approved Stock Size).
175/65R15 - 608.50mm (+0.91%; Seems a waste to upgrade to 15" wheels for it).
185/70R15 - 640.00mm (+6.14%; Fairly big, check fender clearance to confirm fitment without any contact).
205/60R15 - 627.00mm (+3.98%; Confirmed fit).
205/55R16 - 631.90mm (+4.79%; Confirmed fit; Stock size for next class of car).
