I was checking out different tyres today (175/65 R14) and most dealers were pushing for the XM2's over the A-drives, Acceleres, ER60s etc. The price I was told for these were 4700-4800 per piece. Is this a fair price?

To note :I am in Chennai currently but will be purchasing these tyres from Bangalore (where I live). Would there be a difference in prices between the two cities?

Also, one dealer told me that the XM2s mainly have an advantage over the XM1+ when it comes to side wall strength.

No dealer can safely say with assurance that the XM2's are stronger. This is purely marketing speak from Michelin. The official launch happened on March 17th and Michelin flew in all their dealers from around the country to Bombay for the launch.

So, all the marketing speeches are fresh in their memory.

This is not to say that the XM2 is not stronger than the XM1+, but I think time will be the best judge of this. I would trust Michelin when they say the sidewall is stronger but I wouldnt make that my primary reason for buying an XM2.

The XM2 will be a very good tyre. It's very difficult for Michelin to make a bad tyre. But there is no point in constantly talking about the sidewall. If it is stronger, no one can say it right away. WE will have to wait for more users to try it and report back.

Prices will vary between Madras and B'lore mainly due to local taxes.

4700-4800 is very expensive for a 175/65-14 tyre but then, Michelin always is expensive. Whether the XM2 is worth a substantial premium over the ADrives, Aceleres, etc remains to be seen.

I am planning to replace Honda city zxi tyres. The original Goodyear 175 66 R14 tyres ran 45k and are very badly worn out.

Dealer is quoting of Rs 5950/- for 195 60R14 XM2 tyres. Alignment/balancing/nitrogen extra. Is this price correct? Also is 195 60R14 correct size for replacement?

Since the original rims are rusted and dent; I am suggested AVA alloys Rs 19600/- (for 4 units) Is this price correct.

Any reviews from Swift Dzire owners who have used Michelin XM2? How well do they run in the Dzire, and I heard a report that they are noisier?

Its time for tyre upgrade on my Zen. Got suspension overhauled. Looking for a good set of 145/80/R12.

Came across Michelin Energy XM2+. Any clues if its available in 12 inch. Their site says so.

I'll call up the Michelin tyre dealers tomorrow morning first thing.

Upto today evening I had almost finalized on going in for either Bridgestone S248 or the GoodYear GPS2.

I do not want to go in for tubeless.

Hey folks,

Got a new set of XM2 (4 tyres) for my Getz Prime car. Size 175/70/R13.
Had done 42000 kms with my stock Goodyears, almost completely worn out. Kept one reasonably good one as a spare.

Hopefully got a good deal of Rs.4250/- per tyre, including balancing, alignment and fitting.

Am planning to drive Bangalore to Dandeli this week, looking forward to enjoy the ride on my 'new' wheels

Hi. Yes. I did find out about Michelin Energy XM2. Available in 12 inch and only tubeless. It was at around 2600 per tyre (145/80/12).

Unfortunately I did not go for Michelin since my Rim's were not good enough (corrosion at the side) to go for a tubeless. He advised that I go for tube type configuration.

I switched to GoodYear GPS2. Ride quality is good on these.

Finally changes the OEM Goodyear tyres on my Estilo to 155/65/R13 XM2 ones yesterday. This was done at Lokmanya Tyres yesterday.

Experience was good and cost reasonable. It cost me Rs 11.5 for set of 4 after trade-in for old tyres. Few other dealers might be able to do it for 11K but it's a personal choice.

Have not driven much post the change, but the commute this morning over a highway stretch was noticeably better. There is perceptible lesser rolling friction and the car rides smoother. Let's see how this goes.

Got the tyres replaced in my Figo with 185/ 65 R14 a few days back with Michelin XM2.

A set of four costed me Rs 18500 inclusive of alignment, balancing and Nitrogen.
The ride is quite nice. Supple yet firm and planted on the road. Changing from 175/65 to 185/65 also has helped me gain a wee bit of GC also (~7mm). In a Figo, thats a lot of consolation
