Sorry for bugging you with the same question over and over again. My dads car is due for a tire replacement with the stock tires coming for 40k kms. Yep our roads in rural coorg was terrible in the first couple of years of ownership and toyota screwed up the allignment once which resulted in this. We are regulars to this store called Madhus Tyre in mysore and they strongly recommend the Goodyear as a replacement which comes at about 11k a piece. I am confused between the following: Continental Cross Contact A/T - last checked about 16k Michelins Latitude Cross - last checked about 15k Goodyear Wranglers - VFM as they are 11k Our usage is about 70% highway with 30% being good to terrible country roads around our farm. Which would be a good fit? Maddy

I'd also consider Michelins (If i wouldnt have any bad roads to deal with) Lastly i believe there is something wrong with the pricing, as Continentals cant be more expensive than the Michelins ![]()

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Thanks Karan, will give dad this suggestion. We may have to go to a different store to find this tires. Will try calling before hand to get some quotes and then let dad visit the store. Maddy |

| ![]() 25K review of my Continentals The continentals were put to litmus test both on road and off road during our recent drive to Bhutan. On road performance I can say only one thing "Leech like grip levels". We travelled primariliy on the east west corridor from Jhansi - lucknow - Purnea - Siliguri. I am a rather fast driver on Highways. Long sweeping curves taken at some very high triple digit speeds. Not once did the tyres complained. Infact they were hungry for more. Supeerb braking performance no skidding in emergency braking condition. Offroad performance We travelled deep into Bhutan upto Bumthang. The complete highway of about 350 kms from Thimphu to Bumthang and upto Trashigang is ripped apart for widening work. There was nothing but loose mud, millions of sharp stones and slush. The continentals did not blink an eye. Everything was dispatched with disdain. The round trip was of 5000 kms and the continentals did not loose a single point of air. Filled up normal air at 30 before the trip. It was 30 in all four tyres after the trip. The only drawback is that FE takes a hit of 2.5 kmpl on highways. But i think this is nothing compared to the benefits these offer over any other tyres. My verdict Look no further. These are the holy grail of AT tyres. Tyres on which you can bet your life on ![]() ![]() |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Bhpians: Update on our fortuner tires. Dad went to the Conti dealer in Mysore, the owner was not in the store and the boy there was unable to answer any queries. So Dad went to the Madhus dealer who had Goodyears in stock. He ended up replacing the front two with good years. The rear set will give us about 5k miles and the spare tire is unused. Thanks for your help though. My brother felt the tires were good, gripped well. It's been pouring in our area and the rain grips was pretty good. Maddy |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Got Dunlops at around 15k per piece (Toyota showroom rate is around 23-24k!). MRF would have costed only 40k for 4 tyres with fitting and alignment. |

| ![]() Guys, my tyre store recommended me to up size my fortuner to 275/65/ R17 Yokohama shoes. It is right now on its OE Dunlop 265/65/R17 @ 70000 km. Could stretch for another 5000 to 8000 km easily on the existing footwear but the ride is mighty disappointing. The additional thickness of new tyres should help a bit....but how much will the 275 help as against 265 ? Reposted since I got no reply on my original post. Need feedback! |

Also i'd prefer you to stick to 265/65 R17, as an upsize of just 10mm wont be much of an performance boost for such a large tyre and another draw back is that 275 is an odd size and may not be as readily available in the future when you might have to change a tyre or two. Hence i'd say 265/65 R17 is the safest bet ![]()

Will be changing this week for sure ! The tyre store assures me that this Yokohama tyre is readily available...Lokmanya Tyres is a very reliable supplier here in Pune. What will give me a better ride... a 265 Michelin or a 275 Yokohama ? Not planning to use the Fortuner beyond 1 lakh km at the moment. Whatever mileage I do....I want to desperately improve ride quality.

265 Michelins will give you better ride. Michelins have always been known for their ride quality & grip levels. So go ahead with Michelins. Pricing might be expensive than yokos im sure. So its upto you to decide ![]()
