Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Couple of queries.
1. Can someone post photos of 185/60/R14 fitted to car? I am curious to know if it will look too small in wheel well.
2. Whats the recommended pressure for MRF Z2VKs running stock on Fiesta?

With 185/60 R14, the circumference will reduce, and it will look a wee-bit smaller in the wheel well.

If you're planning on an upsize on the stock rims, I'd recommend you go for 195/60 R14, which gives the car a much more planted stance; not to mention the obvious improvement in ride & handling. The resulting circumference increase (and speedo error) is only 1.1%, which is well within acceptable limits.

Here's what mine looks like with 195/60 R14 (Bridgestone Turanza AR10).

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Try 185- 70 R14 and you can the difference. No more under body hits as clearance will get a slight enhanaced but not that easily noticeble . I have added Michelin XM2 and the car is now buttersmooth on big potholes too. I just love that.!!

Thanks for the reply. Btw I upsized to 185/65/R14 two months back and happy with the result. Went with Yoko Earth1. I'll run this set for a wjile before upgrading to 15" rims. That'll suit 195 profile more

I had 185/60R14 fitted to my old Figo for the longest time. Search the forum for pictures - there will be plenty of them peppered about. I am active in Bangalore T-BHP meets, and those threads invariably have a lot of pictures .

Great! The 185/65 definitely fills the wheel arches much better than 195/60. Came to know vnabhi had also done the same. And you are right about the 195 tread being better suited to 15 inchers. Happy motoring!

Re: Ford Fiesta : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

I need to replace the tires of my 2011 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Sxi. I went through the complete thread on various options and experiences of owners on this. I request owners to share their long time feedback on their upgrade choices that they would have made a while ago.

We can leave the upgrade to the stock size that is 175/65/R14. I request feedback on the following:

1) 185/65/R14 - I could see many went for this. This results in 6.5 mm increase in height. In this thread, I read about one case of the tire touching the wheel arches and damaging it, though the owner clarified it was specific to his car and that too on the LHS - no further info on what happened later. Another clarified, the handling was not as surefooted as it was with stock size, when driven speeds above 120KM per hour, though there were suggestions on tire pressure change, to solve that. Rest all had only positive things about this size upgrade, though this would result in 2% error for speedometer and odometer.

2) 185/60/R14 - very few seemed to have gone for this, though no negative reviews for this size. This is closest to the stock size, but I am not keen on this since this reduces the stock size height by 2.75 mm and I am keen for upgrade that will give a higher clearance, to tackle perennial bad roads of Bangalore.

3) 195/60/R14 - few went for this and had only positive things. While this gives a wider tire, gives only 3.25 higher ground clearance, with 1% error in speedometer and odometer.

My preference is to run without any issues and without compromising the terrific handling that Fiesta gives, with better ground clearance to tackle bad Bangalore roads. Tire noise and mileage is not an issue and also can live with the 1-2% errors.

Also while most preferred Michelin and have good feedback, I want to know if main criterion is to tackle bad roads of Bangalore, is Bridgestone better than Michelin tire?

Please share what is the recommended tire pressure for these sizes, when driven alone and when driven with 4 co-passengers and full boot load.

Please share your long term feedback and advice. Thanks, for your time and inputs!

This. You should look at Yokohama Earth1 for the rough roads. These have stronger sidewalls than Michelin XM2s (which are more comfortable as its softer). You can't go wrong with either of these two tyres.

Hi yes!
Just got the last set of Lenso PDX in India last week at a steal. Rs.32000 for a set of 4
These are paired with ADrives at 205/50/16. The stance is good, hoping for it to be better with the H&R springs coming soon, and the handling is far better than the stock.

Fiesta looks nice with the new wheels, hows the ride comfort? I have a global fiesta when checked the feasibility of putting a 16inch the tech guys at ford says it will hit the sidewall and the ride comfort will drastically reduce pls let us know ur review.

That looks sweet.
How's the GC with the 205/50/R16? Does it scrape anywhere?
Would be almost an inch dip from the 195/65/R15 I currently use. Side skirts too

Nope, doesn't scrape anywhere atleast for me. The springs are coming, then it will scrape but you need to be patient with a lowered ride!
