This glorious thread has now been defunct three years almost to the day.....

Does anyone think that the rear view is of the two toned Buick in Faster789's fabulous photo ?

The bumpers seem different though

Afraid not . The pic by faster is a smaller car and single bumper. While the snap by you of the Buick is having two bumpers

Cheers .

Your information was bang on !

I recently came across an old ad for Castrol featuring the SS100 and what has to be the same car now sporting a Bombay registration. We even see the same Castrol stickers pasted on the side

Sadly he expired shortly thereafter, the car was either sold or whatever and landed up in a garage outside Sasoon Dock. Lost quite a few parts. From there it was picked up by Mr. De and give to Swadi's for fixing.

Well, I have quoted everyone who discussed this car, and now finally two pictures of the same car

Avril Denby, in the family car, Morris 10-6 Special, India, 1966

I have asked for more info on this car meanwhile the family would very much like to know where the car is now ?

Very very nice Kartikeyal.
The story fits nicely to the hypothesis that WBB 4031 is MRG 3332.
Apparently the car came from Bengal. MRG is a series of 1970 or so, our MRD was registered in 1969. MRG followed MRD.
Whether the lady or the next owner got it re-registered, I don't know. But it landed up with Protos who did a lot of work with Europeans. The car was bought by Protap Roy. Then it was owned by Dilip De.
The car appeared one day on E. Moses Road. Later on it landed up in a workshop in Colaba where a lot of parts were lost. Then she came to Swadi under the ownership of Mr. De. They have sold this car along with their blue Fin Tail Merc to south India, there is a guy on this forum who is aware as he and his family or friends were the buyers. Let him tell us more about its current status if he chooses to. The Ruparel car was apparently another one.

About the building, my gut feeling is that it is in Malabar Hill, maybe somewhere off Mt. Pleasant Road, and also very likely Little Gibbs Road.
Good post.

Cheers harit

The blue fin tail is here in Trivandrum, now re-registered. MRG3332 has not come to Trivandrum. Maybe it could have landed in Bangalore or Coimbatore.

100% got the same vibe (before I even saw your post).

Was thinking Hill Park building -- which is actually on Mount Pleasant Road!

Re: Faster789's collection

More on the Morris 10/6, (WBB 4031/MRG 3332) the car was owned by Guy and Avril Denby who lived at Hill park, Malabar hill, Bombay during the 1960-70's.

Guy Denby worked for Castrol and that explains the Castrol stickers on the car and the advertisement found by Karl.

Some more pictures

The Denby family car Morris 10/6 special "MRG 3332" in 1970 at Hill Park, Bombay, India, Avril and Guys can both be seen

The above picture from the photoshoot has the actors in different poses from the picture in advertisement.

This is a 2016 picture of Mrs. Avril Denby with her 3 sons, sadly Guy Avril is no more now, Avril lives in the UK and is going strong at 90.

Well the owner of the Jaguar SS 100 Dr.B.K.Barman himself headed Castrol for many years. That car is now with Jacky Shroff. So many links.

I remember you recalling from the beginning that car was owned by Dilip De at one point, great that Travancore could find the picture.

Is this a pic from Autocar India - Me and My Car section? I believe he also owned a Jaguar sports car which was featured in that section.

This is what he had to say about the Morris here

Quote:
“I have this grand 1934 Morris Sports model of which there are only five in the world.”
