Re: Faster789's collection

Here is a photo from an event held in the sixties/early seventies.
The Buick is not traceable by me, maybe someone knows more.
The car next to the Buick is very interesting, Lancia? Lets have some educated guesses.
The personalities are unknown to me, I am hopeful that Faster could find out in his circle who these people are.

Cheers harit

Certainly not a LANCIA. But can be a 20 hp rolls. See the body style at the doors above the handles. English for sure. Lancias had flat doors and never curved in.

Re: Faster789's collection

Beautiful pictures, simply put.

It brings back a lot of childhood memories of watching those cars go by.

Great effort on your part Faster789, scanning and posting them.

Bentley 3.5 Litre, 1931

This looks like taken outside a showroom ..could be Indore out side the Sanghi motors Where there were lots of cars in the mid 80s . This could be one of those cars.

#B8AK has been posted earlier here, but I cannot seem to find where.
Just looked at this image and this is the car at the Baroda Palace parked next to a tractor. I am quite sure on this one

Cheers

Re: Faster789's collection

Some further shots taken many lifetimes ago. I don't have the time to label these, but they are all fairly obvious and easily identified.

As a courtesy to me and as before, I would be grateful if you would please either quote a photograph or discuss each in turn so the thread always has context and there are no unidentifiable posts.

Some wonderful cars that I haven't seen before.
Could you indicate what even they participated in and the year.
Thanks for posting them.

Going by the banner in one of the pics. most of these seem to have been Statesman Rallies in the past? I am not aware when they started but these photos, going by the attire of the people, seem to be around early 1980s?

Faster, you've done it again! Superb stuff, as always.

Are all of these images (barring the Shooting Brake Rolls of course) shot at the same event? Actually they must be 2 events as I see 2 styles of competition number plates. What a sight it is to see - most of the cars are not familiar at present day events. The WBP 'Flower Power' Ford I think still attends events in Calcutta, and I can see lettering "To Bombay, Delhi from Calcutta" pasted on the sides.

Could barely recognise the Bhogilal Hotchkiss (BMZ 2840) - was it still owned by Bhogilal at this point? Later it was Figoni-Falaschified Nice to see the large Hotchkiss saloon (BMX 3545) as well - can you tell us more about it? Ditto for BYF 1464 (Humber?) And where is the large Rolls MHK 126 today? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

I see a hoarding for the movie 'Aan Milo Sajana' which dates to 1970.

Aah you've done it Karlosejee!

Yes, taking a second look at the attires of the people, especially the youth (flowery dresses/shirts but black horn-rimmed glasses, which werent as common in the 80s!) it is indeed around 1970, just before bell-bottoms and long-collars became common.

Also, I just noticed in another pic., a stanher!

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...ion-img037.jpg

These too were to be seen more around the early 70s than a decade later!

The 4123 car is Bhogilal's but is not a Bentley but is a Lagonda V12 DHC.

GJY is a Lanchester and I think also a Bhogilal car

WBB 4031 is a Wolsley Hornet

Couple of questions from me.

1. What is that large Edwardian looking tourer with the Boa horn behind that Ford Model C MSR 7665
2. Is the Bentley MRZ 7000 from Mysore ? Is it still around
3. Is that the Mumbai 500K Mercedes standing behind the RR Shooting Brake in the first picture.
4. Is that Shooting Brake still around, looks liek a Ghost with a well made body

If I recollect from the RR Thread this car has been re-bodied to a boat tailed tourer and is currently in Delhi

GJY is indeed a Nawanagar Lanchester, but doubt it is part of Bhogilal collection. Where is it now, anyone?

WBB 4031 is not a Wolseley Hornet, but a Morris Six Tourer. A similar car attends Bombay events, UP registered, owned by Bhagats. I think another similar car is with Dilip De in Bombay.

MRZ 7000 is ex Mysore, then cricketer Apte who took it to the UK. He probably still has it there.

Definitely not a 500K behind the woody, probably a Daimler.
