The number would be MPS----. In that case it is registered in Raipur M.P. and the number in this series would be from either 1971 or 1972. The car must have been brought to Raipur and then re-registered.
By any chance was this car ever at Nagpur prior to 1972 with a Bombay state registration ? That can be found on the RC Book.

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

This is a 1949 Silverstreak Pontiac which went from Mumbai to Delhi. A one owner car, left hand drive, apparently a wedding present. She was completely overhauled mechanically and then sold on.

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

Sorry this car is still in the same state last seen three weeks ago. Will dig some snaps out. This car was for a very long time at Eden Hall at the rear end.

Sad but hopefully should be restored keeping the fingers crossed and lands at a good house

Cheers

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

A Pontiac convertible seen prior to being auctioned off. This car was in fleet of the Governor of Bombay Presidency, then Maharashtra. This was the secondary car, the first being a Buick convertible. So when the Queen of England visited Mumbai, she sat in the Buick and Prince Philip sat in this Pontiac.
It seems that some filmwallah bought the car, I could not trace it thereafter.

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

Some snaps that I have of various Pontiac's over the years. Two of them are in super nic and really well cared for. The Gujarat registered car I have no idea on its condition today.Pre / Post War Pontiac-dsc_4221.jpg

If you talk about the 2nd & 3rd Picture, then that car is not a Gujarat car but of a "Chhattisgarh" car CG registered. She was up for sale in carwale.com for an absure amount. I think there is a link up there in availabile section.

Re: Pre / Post War Pontiac

That CG plated Pontiac is diesel-ised, price was sure absurd. She was also for sale on Olx.in. While the first one has MH36 plates ( Bhandara, place 60kms away from Nagpur) Interesting...
