There were more grey areas. But do you know that one of the pioneer restorers in India, for his own cars, was based in Ahmedabad? Today he has only a few cars left.

Correct, silly reporters, but who created these myths and gave those handouts of the two winning cars? There are 2 parties involved, the perpetrators and the victims. Anyhow, we have dwelled on this long enough. Attaching a few newspaper cuttings, just see how well the event and the cars were covered.
These are the newspapers I saw, there may be more.
My Lancia was also quite well covered, so many different photos. The winners are only seen in an official portrait.

Yes Harit if I am not wrong are you referring to Mr. Nath? He still restores vintage cars. My friend's 1934 Morris Minor is just back from an engine overhaul at his place.
Hope you are not confusing Mr. Nath with the late Mr. Pranlal Bhogilal?

I am doubtful that he had an XK. He had better cars than that. Many are now in Indore, others with Mallya, some more in Hyderabad.
The hobby was not a family affair but one persons passion. If pictures are found, they have to go on another thread.

To get back into the topic, this is a cutting from Jam-E-Jamshed, given to me by a Parsi, and covers mainly Parsi owned cars. They are also mis informed about the Queen and her Rolls, but they gave some idea about prizes won. First time someone cared to report about that.

I was wrong about the second judge doing his duty on Sunday morning, the Rolls was apparently not judged and won prizes without judging. The visiting judge was busy focusing on Mercs present, that is another story.

Re: VCCCI Vintage Car Fiesta Mumbai - 4th March 2012

Here are the teasers published in Mumbai Samachar for the upcoming vintage car rally. They are in sequence as published, first the secretarys car, then the presidents, then a Buick and finally a picture of the event. The last picture is from the Afternoon.

Cheers harit

While uploading, the fourth picture jumped to number 2

Re: VCCCI Vintage Car Fiesta Mumbai - 4th March 2012

Last week there was an awards function hosted by Auto India. At the venue several copies of the latest issue of Auto India were placed, and I casually scanned through this. The Mumbai VCCCI event was covered and I saw the last page of the article, it said that 158 entries were there, next event should have 200 participants.
Then I checked the list of participants, I got a bit puzzled and wanted to know if all the cars entered were actually eligible for such an event. Vintage, Classics and the Modern Classics upto when?
What about replicas and rebodied cars?
Did all cars on the list come, and were all these cars entered?
I am also attaching the list, and invite comments on the entries.

Cheers harit

Re: VCCCI Vintage Car Fiesta Mumbai - 4th March 2012

Any official list of prize winners? Its been many months since the rally . Immediately post the event I was informed that one of my enteries had won some prize. Not suprising. Thereafter fallout with the Powerful man. Result no prize..Why am I not suprised?? Now no prizes. Only vieled warnings and slander. Tch Tch. I am shivering with fright.

Re: VCCCI Vintage Car Fiesta Mumbai - 4th March 2012

Bulldogji if i were you i would not even bother with the material prize not being given..the actual prize is when a face seeing the car lights up and the hard work put into restoring and maintaining a car is appriciated.

VCCCI prizes are not on merit (deserving car)..but on how close ( various options can be filled in) the owner of the car is to the big man. When was the last time XYZ got a prize..Oh 2 years ago..ok give him one now. Oh..ABC himself has come this year..give his cars a prize. This is the situation of Prizes at VCCCI. This is the reason either our cars dont turn up for Rallys due to the weather conditions and even if they do come..they do not get Judged.

Well said Speedy. None will disagree with what you have said. We come to these jamborees to have fun, meet like minded people, drive our cars, and enjoy the appreciation of other enthuisasts who know the amount of sweat gone into preserving these objects of art.The rest? really of no consequence.
