Couldn't it have been re-registered in the late seventies after moving from another state ?.

Of course, yes.

It is possible. A look at the RC will help matters. But looking how haphazardly the numbers have been painted, I'll doubt if any valid FC Certificate & RC books are present/updated.

An Oldsmobile . The interesting observation by me is that from so many cars of this model more and more are appearing in the south. This is certainly number 14 that I have seen or come to know of in the last couple of years. In different state of health. Any more pics ?

Sadly, the car isn't for sale. The same person, supposedly, also owns a 'spoke wheeled old car'. Both the cars are rusting away, but still, he's adamant on not selling them. :(
