Saw this early-1950's Ford Prefect in Jamshedpur few days back. I don't stay in Jamshedpur so won't be able to furnish more details about this car but I seriously hope somebody brings it back to life.

There were and still are many Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSU's) in that Region (including Orissa) where officers of a certain grade and above would get Rs 400/- as transport allowance in the late 1970's and 1980's. The catch was that one would have to submit the certified R.C. and T.C. book xeroxes to show that he owns a car in his name. No one would check as to whether the oficer commutes to the office either on a car or scooter or by other modes of transport.

Many cars of the 1940's and 50's in running condition were still available then, for something around Rs 5 K. Hence, many such cars landed in this Region. Most of them must have been scrapped and the luckier ones still survive.

This could be one such car.

The BMW is an e34. looks like an m30 engine so 530i or 535i.
outside the building(chopped C class picture), looks like there is some american luxury coupe from the 80s.

This is the oldest model of the Willys Station Wagon to be sold in India as a LHD. The front grille and the instrument cluster are quite different than its following model. The next model came with the single circular meter with the red speedo needle, so common in the earlier CJ 3 B. This model and the immediate next following model were compulsorily sold as 4 X 4 versions. The last model to be sold came during the early 1960's with a 2 WD version alongwith the 4 X 4.

These are great photos. I can help identify a couple of the cars. The car in photo 4, the blue 4 door sedan with the white roof and stripes is a Holden HG Premier, dating from the late 60's. The burgundy coloured 4 door sedan in photo 9 is also a Holden Premier, but a HK model dating from 1968-69. Both of these cars are Australian made, and if they were in Australia, quite collectible and worth a bit of money. The Premiers were a luxury version of the standard 4 door sedan. It would be interesting to know if they were fitted with V8's, although by the look of the badge on the front fender of the HK, it probably has a 6 cylinder. Chevrolet 350 V8's were an option during this period, if the blue car has this, it would make it very rare.
