The car has been standing there for years, previously used to be cream with a white top and in running condition. Same place. Fully complete barring wheelcaps (who knows, they may be in the boot!). A shame to see the car having gone so down.

Can imagine her in that livery, still looks complete and ready to run, but I guess it is the end of the road for her! Why don't we have people like Chip Foose in India!

The car can be easily restored. The problem is usually not lack of restorers, but the willingness of the owner to get it done, or to sell. I don't know about this particular case though.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Went to one of the famous scrap yards in Kollam. Went there searching for the old Mahindra steering wheel for my CJ500D. Found 3-4 CJ's, 2 W124's, 2 Octavia's, an Elantra, etc on the way to the guillotine. Really a heart breaking sight.

Destroyed Willys

I saw these Willys jeeps lying in a govt. department in my city. These are badly rusted (all 3 of them). I feel sad that these diamonds lost their shine & became coal.

Re: Destroyed Willys

@ Terminator-X

Very nice find. They are still in restore-able condition, If two jeeps are combined you can get one restored WILLYS CJ-3B. Surprising to see jeeps like this in our own country. I thought one could find jeeps like this only in the wilderness and farms of United States.

Re: Destroyed Willys

Totally wasted. I don't think they are restoreable any more. I wonder that no petrolheads work in these organizations? If timely action was taken to restore them, they would have been head turners of the city with their pride. Sadly, all this goes down the drain.

Re: Rust In Pieces... Pics of Disintegrating Classic & Vintage Cars

Such a pathetic sight, really heartbreaking. I think the first pic has the engine in it? Atleast someone could get hold of the body panels for restoration. Govt babus would let them rot rather than selling them to some enthusiast (read ME).

The gear pattern is similar to my 85 Mahindra CJ500D.

These were mobile clinics which theminister Raj Narayan ordered off the cuff in 1977. he never bothered to check the practicality of these vehicles or consider locally engineered alternatives. These were too big, could not adapt to local condition as and off road due to lack of parts

Spot on Ajmat - another spill over from the "Double Seven" era. Onething though, most of these vehicles (I have seen a couple in the past) have done below 10,000 kms and if any one is so inclined would make an ideal base to build a "motor home".

These Bedfords are 4x4 and with the Power Steering, was a pleasure to Drive.

They became out of style with the end of tha eara and the subsequent goverments killed the programme and that is why they become "off road" rather than lack of spares. Each of these (as in the case of most of the "foreign assisted projec vehicles") were supplied with huge amount of spares (which by and large remained intact with out being stolen - as it can't be used for other vehicles).

Best Regards & Drive Safe

Ram
