This car is from Goa, and was in Bombay for restoration. Its a beautifully styled car, and I know of only more of this bodystyle in Delhi, to be restored. I have heard though that Sikkim still had a few rare later Mercedes till not too long back, we can always hope more will turn up.









Incidentally there is a gorgeous convertible version in Mumbai, and I think another convertible in Pune pending restoration.

It is a w108. Used to be parked outside a shop, a few hundred metres from Gangtoks, main street

This 1960 Mercedes-Benz Ponton () has been advertized for sale in Calicut (aka Kozhikode!). This car has been put up for sale prior as well-IIRC.

the only Benz Ponton with Right hand drive running perfect on road under diesel in India

Unfortunately- BML 8988 is another Ponton- which incidentally looks quite similar.

from my point of view , one could buy a 1939, a 1964, a 1969, a 1975, a w126 & over half a dozen w123s from OLX right now , with some cash to spare, within the same princely budget !
