A vibrating noise emanates from somewhere near the dash board. I tried pressing and pushing a lot of places. A hard push near the storage (after opening it) just below the wind shield temporarily helps. Any ideas please, for a permanent solution.

Is the vibrating during a specific RPM band? could be the AC blower coming loose. permanent solution would be to open up the dash and check. also the wood trim on the glove box tends to come loose after some years, check if it is that. The AC vent flaps inside may also have come loose.

I confess that whenever my dear friends, the Sh Mukhtar family discussed their fantastic cars, I rated their 540K as number three , behind the Duesenberg and the V-16 Cadillac. With these pictures, given to me by Mr. Moin, son of Sheikh Mukhtar ( Actor and film producer of Bombay: he made the picture Noor Jehan ) I am no longer a decided man.
Imagine dear reader, if you owned these cars, and had to pick one to keep. ( see threads for Duesenberg and Cadillac). Conversly if one was say forced to let go, in which sequesnce would you do it?

Wow ! This was the car that was featured in the Filmfare story many many years ago while the Sheikh was alive and well in Bombay. I had insisted that such an article appeared in Filmfare in the late 50s - early 60s. Also I recall an article and pictures in an American auto magazine as to how it ended up in the US and was restored. Now, thanks to serious research by BHPians, we have a complete rundown on Late Sheikh sahib's three beatiful cars i.e. Cadillac V16, Duesenberg and MB !

That is one sexy 540K! Drop dead gorgeous. It looks so sleek with the hood up that I would have to say it's every bit as stunning as the 'Special Roadsters'.

I would keep the Duesy and the 540K and very sadly let the Caddy go :(

P.S. I may be wrong but when comparing these photographs to the recent ones on the web from RM auctions site, the car looks lower and sleeker than it actually is.

If you are asking about the 540K, the original owner is Yashwant Rao Holkar of Indore. Chassis / Commission number should be 232198.

Obviously, it passed on Sheikh Mukhtar.
