Ponton mercs are not that ''rare'' .There are 3 pontons in Trivandrum itself.
here is a photo of a BUICK Super eight that was supposed to be initially Kerala Government department vehicle.the registration plate in the photo is pre56 ,hence TCT-8138.Must have had a KLT registration subsequently. This car was supposed to be in Trivandrum till the late seventies.

Hey Foby, can you take some more close-up pictures of the red Citroen and white tourer? Maybe even the Citroen engine. Also, can you say what is written below the CITROEN badge?

Thanks for your effort.

Cheers harit

Re: Classics of Travancore, Cochin and Malabar

Is that of Morris Garages ?

Interesting number of windsheild wipers it have.

Gurus please share your thoughts about this one. No need to cover the numberplates since that was showcased in a public event

This car was originally Shell white, with red interiors. It used to belong to Babu Ismail Sait, the producer of the infamous M alayalam movie, Chemeen. It was bought as a direct import just after his movie was released.

The sad part is that the guy died a very sad death, and was a complete pauper by then.

It was sold in he late 90's/early 2000's to a car dealer in cochin.

Post the sale, it lay unused for quite a while at a once famous imported car garage in cochin. That garage, was closed due to some fights between the owners.

are you sure it is a POLARA ,according to my info it is a CORONET 440.
This is an LHD car owned previously by Mr.Cherian(father of famous cardiorthoracic surgeon Cherian) and bought by the present owner a driver, in 2007 .It now has a diesel engine and the original automatic transmission was also changed. as can be seen ,the car is now in a pathetic condition.
