What sort of coachwork does it have?

It is a large 4 door convertible, Tourer I suppose, finished in a light yellow/cream. Very imposing with a gorgeous massive period spot light in the centre. The car is ex-Gondal.

Karl did you take a front view snap of my Biscayne? Yea and I too feel the colour combination and the 3rd rear light makes it a lil flashy. But she is Soo daily drivable now with the modern airconditioning.

We are awaiting whitewalls and nice period 'riveted' numberplate. And next year you must bring both Chevys. When are you adding a 59 to complete the trio?

Scooby 05

Great restoration of the Biscayne, third tail light is a subtle embellishment and fits in nicely, the white two tone is a little much and should have been on the top only as originally offered.

All said and done fabulous! I would be interested in seeing a separate thread posted on the restoration if possible.

Rare 1922 Steyr of Vivek Pittie is a regular participant. It sports a quaint folding steering wheel (pictured at a previous event) and twin sidemounts on the left.

Here is the list of participants as promised. Naturally not everyone on the list turned up, but a fair majority did.

A handsome car (notice I did not say beautiful ), thanks for the pictures.

Is it as silent as sleeve-valve engines are said to be?

Well amidst the cacophony of the band (which I thoroughly enjoyed!) and chatter of the crowds I can't say I paid enough attention to answer your question truthfully.

Hi Karlos.

Thanks for the pictures and participants list etc.

I wanted to ask you a few things regarding teh Lanchester's engine bay picture. Any idea what are the series of linkages to be seen at the front end of the engine. They seem to be a twin set on both sides of the engine.

Also the carb looks very strange. What make and type is it.

Finally what are those two vertical cylindrical items towards the rear of the engine. They look like the starter and the dynamo. If so what sort of drive is being used.

Im afraid I cannot answer most of your questions, forgive my technical ignorance. The two vertical cylinders are indeed the starter and dynamo, a strange positioning I have not seen before. I shall try and find out more.

My attention was particularly drawn to the "recent classics" list- 1976 Lambrettas and '87 RE bikes??!
Well, looks like they've loosened up a bit over the years!
I recall you once told me in an email (a few years ago) how, when you were entering your Pennant for the same kind of rally (I guess) through the WIAA in Pune, the guy in-charge initially scoffed at your ride saying "Indian car" and so not allowed, nor are old Fiats....until you had to do a good deal of explaining about said cars all being CKD assembled only and so on!

Thats not loosening up!! thats desperation my friend to get a show together, some of the mercs, fiats and some other marques we saw were simply in no condition to appear in any show, forget a show of this supposed stature. They did not have original fiitings, lights. one particular merc was missing a major part of its front portion. I hope this rally was not a precedent for the future. I wish I had covered this section ;-)
