So in total, the registration should cost you 82k at best and the dealer is overcharging here. (I assume the car is billed to a dealer within your city and no temporary registration is required which would add another 1.5k)

It happened to us too. When we bought the Swift Dzire back in 2013 we had to get the registration done by ourselves, as the dealer was located in another city. After the process, we found out that the dealer was quoting 4k above the required amount for registration.

Ask the salesman about this. If he refuses to reduce the charges then you can always get the car registered yourself, but it would require time and dealing with the government employees, whose working efficiency we all know about.
Thank you guys. Will enquire salesman about this today.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Booked the Altroz iTurbo XZ+ variant, white colour. Dealer says waiting period in Bangalore will be around 8-10 weeks. Didn't choose the additional pack which includes mats, mud flaps etc. which is Rs. 18,000.

Dealer, KHT Motors, gave a discount of Rs. 20,000 on insurance but is not willing to reduce anything else. On-road price in Bangalore is 10.9L.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Since i shall be getting a leash soon, i thought it may be wise to start hunting for a dog.
House is getting built and i am installing 11.88 KW solar power (leash). Took the missus to look for a dog today (Nexon EV) and booked it by paying Rs 21,000/-. Delivery only in April as of now.
Opted for the teal blue colour.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Make/Model: Hyundai i20
Variant: Asta (O)
Fuel: Diesel
Gearbox: Manual
Color: Starry Night
Booking amount: 10k
Location: Mangalore
Final Price: 13.50 lacs (can vary if there is price change in Jan 2022)
Delivery: Jan 2022 last week
No Discounts.

This one is for my Dad. He is moving from 2020 Honda Amaze Petrol CVT which he did not enjoy driving for various reasons. He was also not comfortable with any of the CSUVs which would have made more sense at this price point.

Congratulations! Car prices (and fuel) are seriously getting crazy! Almost a Million Rupees for an AMT hatchback is simply unfathomable. Come Jan 2022 all OEMs will again increase prices. Seems AMT cars will slowly move into the 10L-15L bracket before 2023!

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

My maternal grandparents had booked a new car recently

Make : Maruti
Model : XL6
Variant : Zeta
Fuel : Petrol
Transmission : AT
Booking Date : 18th December 2021
Color : Magma Grey
Expected Delivery Date : Maybe last week of December or early-Jan if the stock is available
Dealer & City : Adarsha Nexa, Warangal
OTR : Rs 13.5L
Freebies: 20k on accessories as offered by the dealer

They are exchanging their 2019 Dzire VXI AMT, which has run close to 25k Kms in 2.5 years of ownership. And, the Nexa dealer had offered mouth watering price of 7L for Dzire.

And, my grandfather isn't taking any loan on this car as he had already paid the difference amount.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

After months of deliberation and swinging in the sea of mid size SUVs, finally booked MG Hector.

Make : MG
Model : Hector
Variant : Sharp 1.5 CVT
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : 11th December
Color : White/Black Dual tone
Expected Delivery Date : 1st January
Dealer & City : Nashik
Freebies : None
Others : Matching my insurance quote, effectively saving close to 30K

I owned Vento TSI DSG for years and absolutely loved the driving thril & dynamics. But then why I chose MG Hector now (ahead of Taigun, Kushaq, Seltos, Creta, Harrier, XUV or Compass):

- absolute value for money, it could easily ask 2-3 lakh premium for what it offers (I call it OnePlus of cars, 80% of iPhone at 50% price).
- Oddles of space; perfect for a family of 4 adults and a baby with child seat.
- Huge Boot space; can carry all the family luggage including strollers/prams/other baby luggage.
- practical & usable features; e.g. Auto Dimming IRVM, heated ORVM, powered tailgate, etc.
- brilliant fit & finish (was disappointed with all others, except Compass)
- Build is heavy, sheet metal quality is good. Hence the bigger kerb weight & low mileage.
- soft suspension, for plush ride for the family.
- offers everything over & beyond as sweeteners; best speaker system from Infinity, powered seat adjustment for both front seats, wireless charging, panaromic sunroof, connected car, all LED including cabin lights, etc.

Hope to make peace with the poor mileage and poor handling

Will write my ownership experience once I complete couple of thousands on the odo !

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

After going through multiple weeks of living on Team-BHP and TD of a few ~4M "CSUVs" finally decided on:

Make : Maruti
Model : S-Cross
Variant : Zeta MT
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : 11th December 2021
Color : Pearl Arctic White
Expected Delivery Date : 24th December (2021)
Dealer & City : Nexa JP Nagar, Bangalore
Freebies : 25K discount + 8K discount on accessories. Insurance via Maruti seemed competitive to initial quotes online so went with it. I think Maruti was 2-3K higher.

Thanks to all the great discussions here, as well as to folks who I reached out via Personal Message and responded immediately!

Delivery in less than 2 weeks from Maruti? You are lucky they have stock maybe because it is not a model in demand.

Very true.. was lucky in that aspect. The indication I got around booking time, from a couple of dealers, was that any Zeta S-Cross (Silver, White, Grey, MT/AT) could be booked for delivery within Dec or early Jan.

They were hesitant to take bookings for Alpha variant against this timeline.
