Congrats on your new car booking. S-Cross is a very sensible choice.

Being from Durgapur, I can't help asking a few things to you:

1. Why book so far, when you have Bhandari, Sanei et all in Cal?

2. Did you get any info reg. delivery times of new Baleno? I am thinking about getting one for my family.

Thank you very much @e46, your vote of confidence is reassuring - since the S-Cross is probably the least popular car from MSIL!

Well, my permanent residence is in Kolkata - but I live and work in a rural project, 15 kms west of Shantiniketan. So, Durgapur is about 50 kms from us.

I was trying to make parallel deals with Kolkata dealers as well - but all of them were offering me just the 15K OEM discount.

Whereas, this Durgapur Dealer - as mentioned in my original post - is offering me LOT more - including a buy-back of my old M800 (registered to my deceased grandmother), along with the NEXA Exchange bonus for the same - 70K, is the total deduction they are offering.

Well, not directly.

However, today itself I had a chat with the RM - regarding the possible delivery date for my car. He had initially told me that they might even deliver my car within March. I made the booking on 16th March - So, I wasn't really banking on his promise!

However, till today I have not received any news about my car whatsoever, even about it being ALLOTTED against my booking - and so, I asked the RM to explain himself.

To which he told me that the Company is presently putting EXTRA FOCUS on delivering the bookings for NEW BALENO - since there is a long backlog that has accrued. Therefore, the production process for other cars (read an unpopular model like the scross!) have been "SLOWED DOWN". He is saying that the Allotment might happen around 5-6 April - and then they will deliver the car in 10 days...

Now, I really don't know what the ramification of this news might be - for my car - or for new Balenos!
You are probably a better judge than I am, in this regard.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

I Finally booked my First Car- A Red Softop Thar diesel auto top variant. Expected delivery time: 4-5 Months. Wanted a convertible (I am aware of its shortcomings) as my wife denied me buying a two-wheeler and I wanted to enter my 30s in style next year

Booking was preceded by lots of arguments/discussions with multiple Mahindra dealers in Hyderabad and Lucknow (my home state). I wanted a BH number plate along with my own insurance, which was a big 'No' for all showrooms. All Hyderabad dealers denied selling me a car if I don't take their insurance and Telangana registration. All Lucknow dealers were open for BH number plates but no private insurance.

Finally, after much research, a new dealer in Lucknow agreed to both my requests and I booked my Thar. I still haven't test-driven a softop or diesel auto variant as no test drives were available for them. Test drove a diesel manual and petrol auto to get a jist of the Thar. However, the dealer did mention to me that BH registration will take 2 months post-delivery of the vehicle as its a time-consuming process, according to dealer (I find it quite strange though)

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Hello all,

After much dilemma and deliberation we have taken the plunge:

Car booked :: Honda City
Model : ZX MT Petrol
Delivery period : 1 month
Booking amount : INR 21000

Options considered : Tata Nexon, Skoda Slavia, Skoda Kushaq and Honda City Hybrid.

Tata Nexon : Given a cold shoulder by the dealer and shown no interest in a sales pitch, overflowing showrooms and my better half made a passing comment on how Nexon has become the new WagonR sealed the fate of the Nexon. Skewed arguement I know but who am I to argue with the bosses.

Skoda Slavia / Kushaq : Good cars, good dealer experience, just did not feel comfortable plonking 15 big ones on Skoda's reliability.

Honda city hybrid: I was very eagerly waiting for the launch and pricing. Honda decides to only launch with no pricing info coupled with back of envelope calculation showing a very high break in period for the extra moolah payed up front for a hybrid and uncertainty about GOI tax structure on hybrids and finally my family losing sanity over me dragging them to each and every damn showroom in town.

All these combined together gave the axe enough momentum to fall and out came the booking amount money for the city ZX MT.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Booked the new Baleno after a lot of waiting as a second car. I have an XUV 3OO W8 (O) AMT for the highway runs which I got in Jan 2020.
Super happy with the choice. Loaded to the gills. I can live with the non availability of certain things:
Sunroof: Comeone.. India and a Sunroof? I already have one in the XUV which I have just opened maybe thrice during the past 2 years.
TPMS: I perform a thorough check before and during every journey. Also, this will be a city run about so this wasn't a dealbreaker. Besides, Maruti offers individual TPMS which are attached to the wheels directly as an accessory.
Wireless Charging: Be it now or in another 10 years, my phones are always going to have a phone cover due to clumsy me. It's just an effort of connecting phone to the cable for Apple Carplay which anyways I do while the engine is idling at the start of the journey.

Options considered were Altroz, i20 and Baleno. Maruti won hands down due to their non pushy nature, VFM, overall sales and service experience and the 6 airbags bagging it.

Make : Maruti Suzuki
Model : Baleno 2022
Variant : Alpha MT
Fuel : Petrol
Color : Luxe Beige
Booked on : Apr 23rd, 2022
Dealer & City : Excell Autovista Nexa, Baner, Pune
Booking Amount : INR 11,000
Delivery date - Have been quoted a delivery after 6 weeks due to this being a non moving colour. I was okay with the delay and hence did not change the colour. Saw and analyzed all 6 colours in Sunlight and the Beige is definitely my choice.
OTR - 10.95 L
Freebies - None.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Excited for my new sedan.

Make : Volkswagen
Model : Virtus
Variant : 1.5L DSG
Fuel : Petrol
Booking Date : March 8, 2022
Color : Candy White
Expected Delivery Date : June 12, 2022
Dealer & City : Volkswagen Kolhapur, Kolhapur
Freebies : Yet to negotiate
Others : Yet to negotiate

Car to be replaced (currently own): Skoda Rapid 1.6 TDI

Main Criteria: Short highway drives of ~120-150 kms, vacation car.

Cars Considered (around 20 lakhs OTR):

Kushaq/Taigun - I had my apprehensions about Kushaq over the intial niggles and quality control of Skoda in general for 2.0 strategy. Hence, I didn't take the plunge. I really liked Taigun (most of the niggles were sorted out by then) but somehow the car felt extremely compact and the boot space left me wanting for more.

Honda City: A great car by all means. The design language, the rear-seat comfort and the hassle free ownership experience - all top notch. But it feels sub-par in terms of driving and handling dynamics compared to my Rapid 1.6 TDI which is a big let-down.

Honda City e:HEV: While I am waiting for the reviews to be dropped, I am not keen on the hybrid version as most of the Malaysian YouTube channels and Autocar India have said that the performance is at par with the ICE counterpart. Moreover, my primary usage is short highway drives which means I would be cruising at 80-120 kmph which would activate the pure ICE mode which I believe would feel underpowered for this car.

Slavia/Virtus: Very little to choose between the siblings. It all comes down to the looks and the interiors of the car and the A.S.S. In my area both, VW and Skoda, have good A.S.S. Since my preference was to have a 1.5 L automatic, the GT on the Virtus made more sense. Hence, VW Virtus it is!

Recently got BH registration done for our Thar. Took 2 days. 1st day was wasted in format of working certificate while got the approval, tax payment and number issued in under 2 hours on day 2.

That said, the dealership wasted a good week unable to get things moving. Had to get help from my usual RTO agent to expedite things.

Re: The "I Booked my Car" Thread

Despite emails (with links to the TeamBHP PDI checklist, newspaper article and Auto Car India portal) and messages, my dealer is refusing to provide FORM 22 since the past week.

Completed the PDI, but the dealer is adamant that FORM 22 is a confidential document between OEM Car Company (Mahindra) and the RTO.

What to do?
