Austria permits crowd-free F1 races in July 2020

Austria will allow two Formula 1 races to be held in July 2020. The races can be held at the Spielberg circuit on July 5 and 12 without spectators.

With coronavirus cases falling, Austria has eased restrictions on the movement of people. However, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has decided that F1 teams will be limited to a maximum of 80 people each at the races.

The Austrian event organizers have also presented a detailed proposal to prevent infections during races. It includes strict hygiene measures, regular tests and health checks for teams members.

Earlier this year, F1 organizers had announced their plans to hold the opening race of the delayed 2020 season in Austria. The season finale will be held in Abu Dhabi in December.
