Royal Enfield Continental GT spied with twin-cylinder engine

Here's some news that will put smiles on the faces of Royal Enfield fans.

There has been news in the past that the Chennai-based company has been developing a twin-cylinder engine for its motorcycles. Now, images showing a Continental GT with an inline twin-cylinder unit have surfaced on the internet.

This engine is believed to be a 750 cc petrol unit and has a smaller block compared to the company's current engines. It uses large carburettors instead of fuel-injectors, which is expected to enable Royal Enfield to keep the price of the bike relatively low. The engine also has an oil-cooler, which is likely to enhance cooling and make the engine more rev-happy.

The new engine has a single spark plug for each cylinder and is expected to be capable of producing between 45 and 50 bhp and more than 60 Nm of torque. Along with being the most powerful, this engine is expected to be the most refined unit the company has ever produced.

More details on the engine are awaited.
