Rumour: Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio to debut on June 20

June 20 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Mahindra Scorpio.

The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio is expected to be unveiled on June 20. This day marks exactly 20 years since the launch of the gen-1 Scorpio.

Mahindra released a couple of teasers this month, which indicates that the official unveiling could be just around the corner. Last week, we even got a glimpse of the pre-production car thanks to a few leaked images.

The images revealed the SUV's front fascia with its chrome radiator grille and twin-pod headlamps. The new model gets a side-hinged tailgate with Volvo-inspired tail lamp clusters and dual-tone alloy wheels.

The new Scorpio (codenamed: Z101) is expected to be based on a ladder-frame chassis. It is likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk motor producing around 130 BHP. Mahindra might also offer a more powerful diesel engine that could be reserved for higher variants equipped with all-wheel drive.
