Suzuki halts Jimny Nomade orders in Japan 4 days post launch

The cause for the strong demand is said to be due to the longer wheelbase and extra pair of doors, making it more practical than its 3 door sibling.

Suzuki has announced that it has temporarily suspended orders for the Jimny Nomade in Japan. The car maker has received 50,000 bookings for the SUV in just 4 days post launch, creating a 3.5 year backlog.

The Jimny Nomade, which is the 5 door version of the SUV is exclusively built at Suzuki's plant in Gurugram, India, and production output for Japan is currently capped at only 1,200 units per month.

In a post on its official website, Suzuki issued the following apology to potential buyers:

“We apologize to customers considering the purchase of the Jimny Nomad due to the suspension of orders. Thank you very much for your interest in our products. The Jimny Nomad has been very well received, and we have received orders that far exceed our production capacity. As a result, we will be temporarily suspending orders. We will provide updates on when orders will reopen, considering the future production situation. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”

The cause for the strong demand is said to be due to the longer wheelbase and extra pair of doors, making it more practical than its 3 door sibling.

Suzuki has not yet announced as to when they will resume taking orders. First deliveries of the Jimny Nomade are slated for April 3rd 2025. Suzuki has also canceled all planned exhibition events for the Jimny Nomade in Japan.

Apart from Japan, the Jimny 5 door is also being exported to Southeast Asia, South Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
