Suzuki to start local assembly of Hayabusa?

In April 2015, we had reported that Suzuki was gearing up to start assembly of the Hayabusa superbike in India (click here to read report). Immediately after, a media report claimed that the company denied having any such plans. Now, once again reports have surfaced, claiming that Suzuki will assemble the 2016 model Hayabusa from imported CKD (completely knocked down) kits at its facility in Manesar, Haryana.

In India, CKD kits attract a lower import duty than vehicles imported as completely built units (CBU). The step to assemble the Hayabusa from CKD kits is expected to lower the bike's price by around Rs. 2 lakh. At present, the bike is priced at Rs. 16 lakh (approximately).

The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. It has dual front disc brakes and a single rear disc brake with ABS equipped as standard.
