Trouble sourcing spares for my pre-owned Chevrolet Sail U-VA

I have had a good experience with the Sail U-VA, but I now feel it is time to replace it with a new car soon.

BHPian Arayan5614 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hi Folks,

I'm as new as a newborn baby here on the platform and would really need your guidance.

I own a SAIL U-VA petrol, it's a second-hand car which I bought from an online car platform, the car came with one year warranty and it has been almost a hassle-free ownership for ~18 months.

Tensioner Pulley

In a recent servicing, I got to know that the tensioner of the car needs to be changed, I got that order through Trident Chevrolet in Bangalore but when the car got opened for replacing the tensioner pulley it was found that the bracket also needs a replacement.

Broken Bracket

Now finding the bracket has become a 'finding fanny' kind of adventure: surface

The GM doesn't have it in stock, Boodmo has been sitting on the order for 15 days and says they are trying to source it.

Desperate me did some research (visual) and believe the tensioner bracket of Beat Petrol and Sail UVA petrol looks to be very same and might solve my problem because that bracket is available with GM and Boodmo.

  1. Listed for SAIL UVA
  2. Listed for Beat Petrol - 1
  3. Listed for Beat Petrol - 2

I tried confirming it with the mechanics but they aren't very sure of it, is there someone here who faced a similar problem and if you could pls suggest a way forward from here, please.

Update: Beat Tensioner bracket fits well with the Sail UVA, I have got the bracket and tensioner replaced at Trident Chevrolet Bangalore.

On a related note, there is a rumour that Trident Chevrolet Service Station may close soon

Now I'm thinking if I should replace this car with a new car, I had a good experience so far with the car except finding the tensioner was a bit of trouble.

Also recently realised that car's fuel gauge isn't working correctly, it runs on low fuel ( never on zero fuel) twice, could this be a cause of the faulty fuel gauge.

Here's what BHPian dhanushs had to say on the matter:

For cars that have stopped production, your best bet is to be best friends with aftermarket parts suppliers. I have a Fiat Palio 1.6 Sports myself and love the car. I have the same issue and I have 5-10 phone numbers to call in case I get stuck with a part issue.
