Delhi HC debars Audi from selling TT branded accessories

The Delhi High Court has debarred Audi from selling TT branded accessories in India for the time being. The order comes after TT Industries, a Delhi-based garment company, filed a plea under the Trademarks Act, alleging that the German firm was violating its internationally known trademark.

The Delhi High Court issued an ex-parte interim injunction restraining the German automobile giant from selling accessories, bags, leather and faux leather goods and toy cars. TT Industries claims that its goodwill in the market is under threat and is seeking a permanent ban on Audi using the TT brand name in India. It has also sought Rs. 25 lakh in damages from Audi.

The plea claims that TT is a well-known global brand which has presence in 65 countries since 1964. The injunction plea has also said that the company had challenged the proposed trademark registration request that has been filed by the Audi group before the Trademarks Registry in India. The plea also challenges the trademark registration of the Audi TT coupe in India.

The court notice for trademark violation had been sent to the Audi offices in Germany as well as Mumbai. The company has been asked to file their reply to the plea by November.

DC's Duster customisation starts from Rs 3.49 Lakh

DC Design has put out more pictures of its Duster modification on Facebook.

The upgrade package begins at Rs 3.49 Lakh and could end up costing a substantial amount more, once all options are chosen.

The donor vehicle will of course have to be provided by the customer.

The dull front of the Duster has been streamlined by DC into a cleaner, better integrated design.

The wide tyres shod on multi-spoke alloys complete the hunkered down look of the SUV. The rear has been left untouched by DC, save for the DC logo on the boot handle and mild additions to the tail lamps.

The overall effect achieved by DC is certainly an improvement over the original Duster design. The interiors have been radically upgraded from the Duster's otherwise basic inside. It now features perforated leather seats, lashings of wood veneer and chrome on interior panels, along with LCD/LED displays and LED lamps.

While the interiors appear to be immaculately finished, the driver's armrest has a rather odd looking contraption that seems to house a rear cooling vent with cupholder / storage area.

As much as we like the exterior mods, the interior looks overdone...we'll even go to the extent of calling it gawdy.

DC Design's teaser of a modified Duster

DC Design has put a Duster under the knife to come out with this custom adaption of the SUV.

Posted as 'coming soon' on their Facebook page, the modified Duster looks surprisingly subtle for a DC Design (usually, too loud & garish).

DC has released only a picture of the front; the highlight is the strip of LED lights that replace the headlamps and a classy front grill.

The bumper sees rather chunky double barrel fog lights and (excessive) chrome surrounds. The front air dam appears to be unchanged.

We're not sure how this funky face will match the Duster's otherwise older, conventional side / rear profiles. Let's wait and watch.

The bonnet features a 'power bulge' and the paint is in matte finish. DC Design usually provides high quality interiors and the modded Duster should be no different.

Start-Stop button & enhanced security for your Figo

Carwale.com reports that Ford’s Figo is being offered with a Start-Stop button and Keyless entry security system as a dealer add-on. The package carries a price of Rs. 30,000.

The Start-Stop button is fitted below the key slot on the steering column (now covered). However, the system cannot be retrofitted on the Figo's base variant.

Earlier reports had shown a demo Figo kitted with the Start-Stop button near the gearshift. For safety purposes, the brake pedal must be pressed before starting the car.

The package includes a new keyless entry security system with a vehicle tracker. The security system is capable of remotely shutting down the car in case of theft.

There is also a panel (above the headlamp switch) that provides the ability to enter a security code, if the keyless remote is lost. The Start-Stop button is awkwardly placed though, while the security code panel clearly gives the look & feel of an after-market system. The integration could have been done better.

Earlier this month, Ford launched a “Celebration Edition” of the Figo. It comes only in the Diamond White colour and includes GPS, reverse park assist, rear spoiler, seat covers and branded scuff plates. The Figo Celebration Edition Petrol starts at INR 415,999 and the Diesel retails at INR 515,999 (ex-showroom Delhi).
