2nd-gen Hyundai Xcent spotted in India

The second generation Hyundai Xcent compact sedan has been spotted testing in India for the first time.

The new Xcent appears to have a similar grille with V-shaped LED daytime running lights as the Grand i10 NIOS. It could get circular fog lamps and large sweptback headlamps. At the rear, the new model has LED tail lights, while the bumper appears to house a pair of reflectors.

The new Xcent is expected to get the same interior as the Grand i10 NIOS. It could be offered with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. The rear seats could get adjustable headrests and a centre armrest. Reports suggest that the new model could get different colour options for the seats.

The next generation Xcent could be available with BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, while transmission options might include a manual and automated manual transmission (AMT).

Reports suggest that the new model is likely to be sold alongside the existing Xcent and may get a new name. The current generation Xcent could be sold to fleet operators in a lower trim.

Hyundai Xcent gets ABS & EBD on all variants

Hyundai is now offering ABS and EBD as a part of standard equipment across all variants of the Xcent compact sedan. At the same time, the company appears to have discontinued the E+ trim level of the car.

The Xcent facelift was launched in April 2017. It was available in 5 variants - E, E+, S, SX and SX(O). While driver and passenger airbags were offered as standard, ABS and EBD were only available in the SX and SX(O) variants.

There has been no change in the powertrain options offered in the Xcent. The car is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh

Hyundai has launched the 2017 Xcent facelift in India at prices starting from Rs. 5.38 lakh for petrol and Rs. 6.28 lakh for the diesel range. The 2017 Xcent will be available in 5 variants - E, E+, S, SX and SX(O), with each of them being available with two engine options - a petrol and a diesel.

Cosmetically, the front grille is now wider and gets a chrome border. The lower bumper area houses a slim black insert that stretches across the width of the car and ends in bracket-like shapes that house the LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) and engulf the larger fog lights. The silhouette of the car remains identical to the current model, though it now comes with a new set of 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels on the top-end models.

The rear end features 2-piece taillights that are much wider than the units found on the pre-facelift model. The boot too has been tweaked a bit to house the larger taillights and a new wider chrome bar is placed above the number plate housing. It also features a shark fin antenna on the higher variants that has been placed at the rear portion of the roof. The updated compact sedan can be opted in 5 colour options - Star Dust, Wine Red, Polar White, Marina Blue and Sleek Silver.

On the inside, the Xcent facelift borrows the cabin and dashboard layout from the model it replaces. However, there is a new 7.0-inch touchscreen system on offer that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also doubles up as the output screen for the reverse parking camera. This new system is available only with the SX and SX(O) variants, while the E+ and S trims get a basic 2-DIN music system. Hyundai also claims to have made some changes to enhance the car's NVH refinement levels. These include the presence of wheel air curtain, increased use of sound absorbing material and a reinforced dashboard.

The Xcent continues to be offered with the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 82 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. This petrol engine can be opted with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The 2017 Xcent petrol MT delivers a company-claimed fuel economy figure of 20.14 km/l while the AT variants are rated at 17.36 km/l.

The earlier diesel model's 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder engine has now been replaced with a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit that is rated at 74 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-2,250 rpm, while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claims that the 2017 Xcent facelift diesel variants can deliver a fuel economy of 25.4 km/l.

In terms of safety features on offer, the Xcent facelift gets dual airbags as standard across the range. However, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is available only on the two top variants.

Interestingly, Hyundai will continue to sell the pre-facelift model, which will be called the Xcent Prime. It will be sold exclusively to fleet operators and will thus be competing against the Maruti Dzire Tour.

2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift - more images surface

Thanks to Ehtesham Mahmood for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift will be launched in India on April 20, 2017. We had earlier posted a couple of spy shots of the updated model that gave a first look at the changes made to the mid-life facelift. A new set of images has now surfaced, offering a clearer view of the updated car.

The 2017 Xcent features some cosmetic tweaks at the front and rear ends. The front grille is now wider and gets a hexagonal shape with a thick chrome border. It houses five chrome-lined horizontal slats, the Hyundai logo and the front number plate. The bumper too is a new unit as it now gets a slim black area that stretches throughout the width of the car and surrounds the fog lamps. This black insert also houses the new LED daytime running lamps. Meanwhile, the rear gets wider split tail lights, a new boot lid with a chrome bar in the centre and a new bumper with a slim black section on the lower part.

The car in the spy images appears to be a mid variant as it misses out on alloy wheels, but gets LED daytime running lamps. Other features visible in the images include ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators and reverse parking sensors.

The 2017 Xcent facelift is expected to be offered with the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that is available in the pre-facelift model. Meanwhile, the diesel version will get a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit that will be replacing the earlier model's 1.1-litre power plant.

Scoop! 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift's feature list leaked

Thank you to BHPian The Hurricane for sharing these images with other enthusiasts!

Ahead of its scheduled official launch on April 20, the 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift's feature list has been leaked. The design changes made to the facelifted model have already been revealed earlier through spy shots.

The feature list reveals that the 2017 Xcent will be available with 5 variants - E, E+, S, SX and SX(O). The entry-level Base trim has been renamed as the E, while a new variant named E+ has been added just above it. Hyundai has made some significant alterations in the variant-wise feature distribution of the Xcent facelift.

Dual airbags and alternator management system (AMS) are now standard across the variant line-up. However, anti-lock braking system (ABS) has been removed from the first three variants as it is now only available in SX and SX(O) variants. Additionally, the E variant will now only get hub caps for its steel wheels, while the pre-facelift Base variant used to come with full wheel covers.

The new E+ trim adds body-coloured door handles & ORVMs, 2-DIN music system with 4 speakers, Bluetooth, rear AC vents, rear armrest, rear power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and front fog lamps to the E's feature list. The S trim loses features like 1 GB flash memory in the infotainment system and driver seat height adjustment while gaining LED DRLs and mobile phone dock for the automatic variants.

The SX and SX(O) trims now get a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is the same unit that is being offered with the new Grand i10 facelift. Meanwhile, the electro-chromo Mirror (ECM) and cluster ioniser from the automatic climate control system have been removed.

The 2017 Hyundai Xcent is expected to carry forward the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that was available in the previous models. However, the diesel variants will get a slightly upsized, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit. The compact sedan will continue to compete against the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire.

Hyundai will be launching the 2017 Xcent facelift in India on April 20, 2017. Ahead of its official launch, the facelifted Xcent has been spotted without any camouflage, revealing all exterior styling details of the upcoming model.

As per the leaked spy shots, the new Xcent gets a redesigned front bumper that will house a wide hexagonal grille with five horizontal chrome slats. The lower part of the bumper gets a slim black insert that stretches along the width of the car to form a bracket-like shape around the two fog lamps. It also comes with LED DRLs that have been placed near the fog lamp housings. The horizontally-placed fog lamps are larger than the outgoing model's round units.

Rumour: 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift to launch in April

The 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift has been spotted testing a couple of times under mild camouflage. Media reports now suggest that the updated Xcent will likely be launched in India in April 2017. Hyundai hasn't revealed an official launch date yet.

Hyundai recently launched the Grand i10 facelift in India which gets some cosmetic tweaks, most of which are at the front. These include a larger, hexagonal grille, boomerang-shaped fog lamp housings and LED DRLs. The Xcent facelift is expected to borrow all these updates from its hatchback sibling. Additionally, earlier spy shots have indicated that Hyundai has redesigned the tail light cluster of the new model as it now comes with larger wrap around units.

There will be an update in the powertrain department as well. While the 1.2-litre petrol engine will be carried forward without any changes, the 1.1-litre diesel will be dropped in favour of a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder unit which recently made its debut in the 2017 Grand i10.
