I guess you have 55amp alternator in your CJ3B, so you should have little above 55amp in your battery. May be you should check for 65amp or 80amp.

Keeping more amps on the battery is not going to be a problem, as far as you don't upgrade your alternator. Upgrading alternator to larger ones will have impact on fuel conception.

I have 35 amp alternator if am not mistaken in my jeep and its not a dynamo/generator. I think 55-60 amp battery would be apt for it.

This is the range of batteries from PowerZone for fourwheeler category

I'm using the PZ 900 MF the 90amps Tractor battery in my Explorer. The cost after exchanging my old battery was Rs.3400/-

Super thats a great price, i think am almost sold on this now. I will go with 600 or 750 which are 60-75 i guess?

Jaggu - I am using the SUMO battery EM75R (i guess). The previous owner had put in a UPS battery so my exchange price was like 700 bucks for the old battery. I paid 4.5K for the new one.

Dear Vinay,

That was really informative. I did have the Engine oil checked. Filters are new. checked for water circulation. water pump working fine. Water is indeed being circulated. Water level is not going down drastically. I guess my Jeep is doing good running betwen 70-80 deg. Only once it was close to 90 deg as I was passing through bad traffic on the outer ring road. Else I believe it was just a false alarm to which I showed knee jerk reaction. I found the convo really useful and informative.

Does the 4500 include the 700? Meaning, was the battery 4500Rs and you paid 3800 cash and 700 in credit for the oldie? Or was it 5200?

If 3800+Old, then it is a super deal for a 75Ah...!!

Initial quote was 5100. I checked at a couple of other places too. the prices ranged from 5200 to 5500. The guy from whom I bought seemed the most reasonable. and this was almost 3-4 months ago. Am not sure if the prices have dropped now.

Jaggu - My doubt was right, Siva's 3400 deal was when he rebuilt his jeep, or at least a few years ago...!! The prices have gone UP UP UP a LOT, and looks like shubz got his for 5+ and ended up paying 4.5 after exchange.

Same prices prevail in hosur too. PS - If so expensive, then the amaron 'harvester' still rules..!! Just for its build quality. Should be just a few 100 +/-...

Yes Amaron Harvest or Powerzone (Tractor model) both are built by Amar raja batteries

Which ever is cheaper/ has 55/60 amps. And there goes all my excitement about cheap battery

Can you check in Hosur Santhosh, if it is not too much of trouble?

^^, hey no trouble. Every thing I need for my car and jeep are within 1.5Kms end-end. No kidding. Will update tomm morning. Last time i checked 75 and 90 Ah Harvestor, it was 5000 to 5500 range (around 4700~ + oldie)

Np will do. Top of my mind I am thinking why (or how) would a tractor engine start with a 55Ah battery, but lets see,

75 Ah - TRA 500 D31R/L
90 Ah - TRA 600 H29R/L

Only these two are made in the harvest' range.

Get it naa, you dont save a LOT by going down to 55Ah, seriously. You really need the BUILD quality more the Ah rating. PS - get a few roo's or Lightforce's to utilize the xtra amps

I second Santosh's opinion. go for 75 ah one. it wouldn't be too much on the pocket in comparison to the smaller batteries. (65 ah is the minimum recommended I believe)

Yup tougher build over amp rating any day and i checked powerzone also, tractor battery seemed to be 90 amps

Darn that ol Exide was supposed to be not even 2 year old!!
