Hello all

A friend of mine had traveled from T V Malai to Tindivanam yesterday along the famous/infamous NH66. The road is simply non existing, the road work construction is not at all in progress.

As per NHAI Phase III they are supposed to finish by Apr 2014 !

It is April 2014 and the Jan 31st NHAI report mentions 53.29% achieved of the overall 170km stretch!!!

53% Seems too high. Because the whole of Krishnagiri-Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Tindivanam seems to be broken and none of that stretch seems to have been repaired. Only the last stretch Tindivanam to Pondicherry has been made a 4-lane. Hence its difficult to comprehend which section actually has been completed.

A friend of mine had been to tiruvannamalai last week. For the onward journey, he took the Karimangalam route. For the return journey, he came via Singarapettai, Tirupatur, Bargur and Krishnagiri. The road from T V Malai to Singarapettai is a mixture of good and bad stretch. From Singarapettai till Krishnagiri, the roads are very good to drive.

The stretch from T V Malai to Singarapettai is somewhat doable when compared to Singarapettai to Krishnagiri.

Even from T V Malai to Singarapettai, road widening has been completed in some places while in the remaining portions the road narrows down to almost a single lane road due to the ongoing construction. Working is going on at a fair pace.

So one more alternative to karimangalam route would be via Krishnagiri, bargur, Tirupattur, Singarapettai and T V Malai.

I have driven on Bargur Tirupattur road. It is sheer pleasure to drive.

I went to Tiruvannamalai from Bangalore last week. The route was Krishnagiri->Singarapettai->Tiruvannamalai.
I agree only 53% road work is completed ( it should be even less). It was really frustrating to drive till Singarapettai. The stretch becomes good from Singarapettai to Tiruvannamalai.

When you say good, do you mean the work is complete and its a blissful drive? Or there is more work to be done on that stretch as well?

@amp - More work is still to be done on that stretch too but felt relatively better than Krishnagiri to Singarapettai stretch.

I would suggest an alternative to the route you mentioned.
Via krishnagiri-bargur-tirupattur-singarapettai and T V Malai. I have driven on krishnagiri-tirupattur by the above said route before. Very good 2 lane roads.

Folks
One more update. My office colleague had been to his home town in T V Malai. He took the karimangalam route. Till Thanipadi, the roads are good as usual. From Thanipadi to T V Malai via Naripalli the roads are patchy as before. Driving beyond 60 kmph makes it a bumpy drive.
