Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Is hotel reservation safe if done on online sites like makemytrip, cleartrip, expedia, etc?, because we pay the full amount upfront.

(expedia is now advertising on TV).

If safe then which site is the best?

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Manim
Hi
Last friday night/saturday morning booked a hotel in Chennai for sat.night stay through makemytrip.
Everything went well
However if you have the time do the booking during their office hours so if there is any problem you can call up and get it rectified. The hotel section people do not work 24 hours whereas their people handling airlines work round the clock
Regards
PS:On a different travel site read about their poor record of refunds.I have used them a few times without any hassles though there has been no incidence of cancellation/refund

Manim,

I have used most of the travel sites 'n' number of times. Except for couple of occasions where things did not turn out as excepted, the hotel guys turned around things and made my life great.

What i normally do is call up the hotel / resort , enquire their rate & availability for travel dates and then book through these travel sites. After couple of days again call up the hotel and confirm your booking. You get great deals and prices through these sites.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Manim, I have used makemytrip more than once and have found them to be good.

Recently, the Fortune Group had cited unavailability of rooms, but the same day, I have booked with Makemytrip for the same hotel (Fortune in this case), and I received confirmation.

I called Fortune Reservations to check how this was possible, they mentioned that they have a separate 'quota' for makemytrip !!!!

Accomodation at SriKalaHasti and Kancheepuram

Planning for a short drive and the preference for SriKalaHasti or Kancheepuram. So, request you help me with suggestion for stay options in either place near temple(s); only SriKalaHasti and not Tirupati please !

Also, on Bangalore->SriKalaHasti and SriKalaHasti->Tiruttani->Kancheepuram route, please let me know of any other prominent temples as well. I have heard of Aragonda and Kanipakkam and would like to know more details on the route/diversions to these place as well.

Let me know of places for food break with decent toilet facilities as well? I know of Kolar Woody's but that will come too early for a break. Preferably, looking for a break between Mulbagal and Palamner(specifically, before the deviation to Aragonda) for breakfast. And either on the Kanipakkam->SriKalaHasti route or on SriKalaHasti town for lunch.

Not sure about hotels in Srikalahasti but we stayed at Sindhu International which is on the highway itself when going from Bangalore to Tirupati. This hotel is at the junction of the road to Tirumala on one side and Srikalahasti on the other which is about 30-40 minutes drive from there.
Regarding food stops, here are some
- CCDs (Kolar, Chitoor-near bypass, Chandragiri)
- Woodys
- Reliance A1 near Chitoor
- Bans the hotel on the Chitoor Bypass
- Remember reading a recent post by another member about Shanthi Sagar near Palamner.
For more information you can refer the Tirupati thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...e-help-28.html
Hope this helps.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

What are the accomodation options at Lonavla/near Rajmachi?

Budget approx 1k for 1d1n for two, can be a little stretched
Need clean and nice rooms and toilet, other amenities are optional
If the accommodation is away from the main town would also need veg breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

So I promised to write back about the place I stayed at in Tiruvannamalai. Its called Sesha Bhavan Guest House and is a 5 minute walk away from the Ramana Maharishi Ashram. AC rooms for 750 bucks a night (for two!). Exceptional value for money and I could wake up to Sri Arunachala mountain every morning by looking out the window.

Fantastic places to eat within 7-10 minutes walk. All catering to european tastes (and wallets). But I enjoyed it.

Highly recommended over the horrible Hotels in town.

Sesha Bhavan Guest House: Jyoti - 0417 523 6983

You have quite a few hotels near Kilpauk ( 10 mins from Central ). You can check out Hotel Pride.
