It's true. I've never driven on sand and would love to try it out. Unfortunately, i have to go to Hyderabad on 14th for giving a lecture (still trying to weasel out of it though).

GS, those that you did were basic with less slush. Next time come for the night OTRs and we promise that you will get stuck.

GS, we shall talk about your sand driving experience when we meet up. I really wanna do OTR in sand!

I was dejected...I rarely get stuck and this time an innocuous looking berm of sand had me sinking in beyond axle depth. In Mumbai OTRs this would have been a non-obstacle. My error was following in Arka's tracks without his skill, traction, GC and I went too slow.

Arka had a few kind words of comfort for me...mostly Gaalis in Hindi and Tamil spoken with a smile!

Arka: "see it is not for nothing that we claim to be the toughest off-roading competition in the country...you're doing very well for a first time driver!"

Me: "mumblegrumblemumblegrumble"

Hi GS,

Getting stuck is all in the game, the Transport Legs are extremely demanding, more than the Special Stages, because the competitors/Organizers have to drive over untested terrain, and this demands a lot of concentration, most of us get stuck in the Transport legs.

While driving I have managed to get Vikram's Gypsy stuck on every recce .

Happens!!! See you on the 12th August.

Regards,

Arka

Arka Bala Dutta.. Put up a list with participant and vehicle details. Less than a week to go.. How is the weather? Is it inclined towards helping the participants or organizers?

Thanks for the text, headers.
Still can't believe Arka's statement on Radio : Gypsy is the best of both worlds (540 and CJ3B).

I'm arriving on 11th as well. Where are you staying on 11th night? I'll be picking up Raj on 12th morning and heading towards Major Roy's camp later in the afternoon.

Nitrous, did you listen to the whole interview? Guys come to TPC to get rogered!!!

And what Arka meant was that the MM540 "was / is / will be" undisputed king of offroad.

OT: Now that he has joined the THAR camp, i can imagine what he's gonna say 2 years from now.

Yup..Arka has most definitely joined the Thar camp. Is there somewhere I can go to hear a recording of this broadcast?

1 day to go!

I miss my Gypsy SO much already! Poor Geoff...sitting in Chennai all by himself.

TPC10 Weatherman reporting !!!

I was getting a bit worried when there was a lot of rainfall last week , but today, it feels truly like a normal day in August. Hot, humid, and no signs of rain in the next few days (judging by sat images of today).

I guess the weather will end up favouring the organizers after all .
