Is anyone interested in buying a brand new Gurkha Hard Top 4x4 from me? The vehicle is ready in in the factory and waiting to be shipped. It's the Hard Top version with A/C and Power Steering. I am thinking of getting the Pajero 2.8 SFX.

4X4, you are lucky in many ways then one, you got a Gurkha in around 4 months, which is great, but you are selling it right away. Hope you find a buyer soon. Wish I had that mush money to spare now!

I had a question about the engine in the Gurkha.
Is the diesel powerplant built in-house or is it the one derived from Mercedes?

This is derived from Merc. as far as I know.

Also they would be coming out with OM611 in October 2008. Which would be 138 PS!!!

I cannot agree!

They'll almost certainly have it out before 3rdQ 2056.

I think the more pertinent question is, how many of us will still be around to see that launch?

Yesterday as I was waiting at a junction for the green I couldn't believe my eyes as something black with a big stainless steel snout shot across in the direction I was headed from the opposite road.

Yes sir I finally saw the Yeti (oops the Gurkha) and now I can confirm it exists

Just then the lights turned green and I managed (almost bumped a few autos off the road as I caught up with the black beast) to pull up along the car and signalled to the driver (stupid of me to talk in English) that I wanted to speak to him. Obviously the driver didn't speak English so he politely greeted me and started to speed off. I chased the fellow for a good 2 kms before I again got a chance to come along his side and now in Hindi asked if I could speak with him.

He stopped and I finally managed to see the car from close. He told me he had to rush off as his master wanted to show off the car to friends so I had like 10 seconds.

First impressions are it looks the part. Very rugged looking. Crazy looking tyres like they are meant to rip the tarmac off. Interior is neat, miles ahead of the pathetic Trax interior, and most impressive the engine was pretty silent.

So there you have it. Hyderabad has its first Gurkha Hardtop. Not sure if the car is worth the 8 lakhs, but then no other machine offers diff locks.

Congrats DKG on seeing the Ye...Gurkha! How different was it from the stock Gurkha featured in this thread? Any significant mods?

Samarui,

The Gurkha I ordered was delivered after four months in cochin but due to some change of plans a friend of mine took delivery of the vehicle instead of me.

But I did go and take a look at the vehicle when it was still with the dealer. It looks pretty much the same as the one you test drove. The only difference I could notice was that the it came with the JK LT2000 off-road/mud terrain tires instead of the LT highway tires that came on your cousin's vehicle.

boss
do you feel its worthwhile, this gurkha at the price?
unless your daily grind involves some mud, slush, rocks etc?
or only if you are one of the hands on people who looks after everything on the estate /farm.
i think your decision to go with pajero sfx is a good one. you might have seen suraj soman's pajero last week at ooty - unfortunately i didnt meet you there but 'carrot' told me you were in the region.
cheers
sb

completely wicked looking jeep
looks a bit like a landrover especially from the rear - those vertical window chinks on either side etc
and is that a snorkel?
fantastic - you can quite literally go anywhere with this jeep - great!
AND what evil looking tyres!!! almost like they want to chop up anything that comes in their way!
have a great time with your BEAST!
I dont think, compared to this jeep that anyone can call a Safari a beast!

cheers

Shankar, this is the same model shown in the first post of this thread, just a few months newer. The only difference is the off-roading tyres.

Eye of the beholder and all that, just the other day somebody was referring to their Fiesta as Beast!

Oldmodel, the shots have come out stunning good. It is not easy shooting a black vehicle this well.
