Hi Harjeev / Sadiq,

The other Jeeps I own are, a 1943 Model Willy's and a Kaiser.

Below mentioned price is what was quoted to me by Kunal who deals in Maxxis Tyres.

The Maxxis mudzilla is for 9500 each, its size is 31 x 11.5 r15.

Cheers !!!!!!!!

The jeep fever is really contagious Just make sure you get a good deal and don't make a decision in too much of hurry to repent later. All the best for your 550 search, surely you will get hold of a good one very soon.

Thanks Kandisa,

I will for sure have a good look and spend carefully. I'm not just running after the crowd, but I do have a need to off-road on a weekly basis. for this purpose I had a Gypsy which I sold recently. The ride on the Gypsy was very bumpy and in trails and rough roads my stomach and back used to hurt. The jeep is much better on the ride, but bad on the brakes. The 550 has some extra features including power disc brakes and is not a bad option i guess. Atleast my jeep would have the honour of having served the Indian Army!

Progress Update

Hey there Jeepers,

Progress update on my Jeep, Well this weekend again I was unable to make my trip to Jaipur. Fortunately dad had some work there and he said he'll go and check on the same on my behalf.

As informed by dad, work on my Jeep had not progressed as I had expected as there were a couple of holidays in the middle and also the Vintage car rally that my Mamaji's gearing up for. I do not want to rush things as I know that as and when my Jeep is handed over to me it shall be worth the delay.

Anyway here's what has been done.

1. Complete Chassis has been welded where necessary.

2. Entire braking system i.e front disc pads changed, Discs turned. Rear drums turned and pads changed and fitted.

3. Front and rear differential's redone and fitted. Wheel bearings and kin pin bearings changed and fitted. Only front left wheel studs(2) needs to be re threaded and fitted, should be done by tomorrow.

4. Body tub will be temporarily fitted onto the tomorrow and engine and gearbox to the aligned and fitted on the new foundation.

5. Power steering also to be aligned and fitted.

6. After the above, tub to be removed and chassis to be buffed and painted.

7. Denting work to start once tub is fitted on the painted chassis.

Here are some pics clicked yesterday.

Cheers !!!!!!!!!

nice low bonnet jeep with the winch in the background!

looks like your jeep will be given a rebuild much better in this professional workshop (one can make out with the cars in the background)!

i would be keeping a keen eye on your thread about the progress of your build!

Hi Parm,

Well the low bonnet jeep is nearing completion. Its fitted with a 1.8 Isuzu engine that off the new Amby's. The engine is amazing with loads of power. I had driven it last time i was in Jaipur. The person has kept it a 2WD using the same Isuzu 5 speed gearbox.

My Jeep is in good hands thats why I dont want to hurry things. Hopefully it should be ready by end of feb. I shall be testing the vehicle first week of Jan, only after that the Jeep will go for its cosmetic makeover and paint job. I would be checking the Jeeps performance on and off the road as it'll have a new engine and gear. If any glitches, they shall be fixed before it goes in for the paint job.

Cheers !!!!!!!!!
