Has anyone been offered a non G13bb engine for the gypsy at the time of booking?

I wish they come with the 1.6 litre engine that does duty in the SX4. Some extra power for the Gypsy King to climb over any terrain left.

See my earlier comment about registration. If the vehicle is manufactured before April 1st - you CAN register it in metros.
Hi gs, the dealer today confirmed that the vehicle will be delivered at the Mysore showroom (not Bangalore) and they would be able to help me there with the registration.

The delivery period is 2 months. It will be BSIII and they also confirmed that the Gypsy will under no circumstances be delivered in Bangalore.

Yikes!

Strange...here in Mumbai they can still deliver the Gypsy (at least according to Sai Service) as they were manufactured before April 1st. I am not talking about a newly produced vehicle - they have a few in the stockyard which can be shipped out within 24 hours of you placing an order.

Do yourself a favor - just call the Mumbai Sai Service dealership at lower parel. Ask for Kamalesh (sales). Ask him if he can deliver a vehicle to you in Bangalore asap. You can give my name as reference.

I am POSITIVE there is a soft-top still available.

That's only a stop-gap allowance as temporary registrations are valid for a month. According to the law, BSIII vehicles now cannot be registered in any of the BSIV Metros, including the Mumbai RTO.

Is the Gypsy still on Sale?

Guys,

I am eager to know if the Gypsy is still on sale after March 2010 because of the Bharat4 norms being active in the main cities. I am pretty much sold out on the vehicle and want to book it as soon as tomorrow morning but eager to know if it is available in the 13 main cities.

Any news on any upcoming engine tweaks to reign in the emissions is also welcome.

Thanks bhp-ians.

The Maruti website doesn't show any BS IV variant. Best way would be to check with the dealers in your city.

I called Chowgule and they say it is BS3 and only available through Satara and other smaller towns around. We can't register a new Gypsy in Pune anymore. I need to have an address proof of Satara (for example in my case) to be able to buy this car. So it seems a bit difficult managing all the documents showing I stay there.

Any news on the tweaked BS4 if any coming or not? When they can tweak the Alto, why not the Gypsy too. Yes I know it has the K series now but for some time they had done a few changes to the old F series right?

Just got back from Sai Service and hidden away in the price list was prices for Gypsy BS4 along with BS3 models: difference of 7k or so.

Thats both good news and bad news. Good news that our favorite wheels are going to live on. Bad news is that this means no hoped for upgrades. And those wet-dreams about the Jimny coming were just that! Told you so!

HA HA HA...bittersweet isn't it

It is a good thing, let the old goat live to fight another day. Only a mentalist will buy a Gypsy new (like me!)

If there are major upgrades then I'm buying some heavy artillery.

That's a very good news. Any details on what engine it is?

Thank you Maruti!

Just when I thought that all was lost and the only options I would have would be between a B-YUV (Bangalore-yuppie-utility-vehicle), or a tedious rebuild project of a short-chassis rust bucket, Maruti has given back to us non-BSIII cities a vehicle with a distinctive personality, and has given me hope and a reason to start saving again! Thank you Maruti Suzuki!
