Looks like something from Force Motors stable (Trax platform?)... At least the bodywork suggests so.

EDIT: Mr. Google suggests it is a TATA!

Since this is a speculation thread, meant to provide "edge-of-seat entertainment", I am taking a chance at posting speculations that might ultimately be OT.

Quote:

Survivability. Operates in the most demanding climatic conditions, in temperatures ranging from -200 C to
+550 C (without aid).

Lethality. Weapon ring mounted on roof carries a gun mount for 12.7 mm HMG or 7.62 mm LMG or Mk19 40 mm grenade launcher; hard top driver's cabin and all-steel shell body with drop down screen and gun mount in front of the commander, on the co-driver's seat.

Mobility. Operating range of 500 km and maximum. running speed of 105 kmph.
Its only a TATA candidate for Light Specialist Vehicle for the IA

TATA Motors | Tactical Vehicles | LSV

Not sure if this will be adapted for civilian use by the forces though - like ferrying wives and kids of jawans and rations etc...

I agree with you . I think it is more like a TATA product. A counter product to mahindras AXE (which too has disappeared by the way). There was a picture of something similar from tata in an edition of Autocar India a fair few months ago as well.

Now that is what I call temparature range

Even our Major Corporates goof up. Dowloaded the brochure, quite interesting offering.

Re: Jimny expected in 2011

When speaking about the release of Suzuki Jimmy in India , i have been expecting it for the past 3 years but it still remains to be a mystery !

OT-I am working in Saudi Arabia in a Refinery construction site so i see lots of 4WD vehicles daily.

Coming back to Jimmy there are few here mainly used for Patrol inside the construction site where there is no necessity for more than two person to travel. My personal view is this vehicle should only be considered as a Two Seater and cannot be used for long trips( had very bad personal experience in a 150 kms trip here) , Yet to try it off the road !

Suzuki Jimny (1999 - 2011) - Prices & Specs - Drive Arabia >> UAE (Dubai / Abu Dhabi), Saudi, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait & GCC

Please forgive me if i am wrong !

Just like the Gypsy/Samurai, if and a big IF the Jimny comes to india it will be modified to meet indian requirements. And seriously doubt it will be launched in just the 3 door format.

The word in this thread is that Suzuki will be launching the next generation Suzuki Jimny sometime in 2012/13. After all, this version of the Jimny was launched way back in 1999.This new Jimny will have a 3 door version but also a 5 door version. And it is this 5 door version that will be launched in India. So i guess the longer version will be a lot more comfortable. But once again these are all speculation. Nothing is sure until it is confirmed by Suzuki.

Did you notice how the Grand Vitara refers to a 3-door variant (the Grand Nomade is their 5-door variant) in some markets whereas in other markets the Grand Vitara refers to a 5-door variant? Perhaps we'll have a 5-door variant that looks like a Bolero and will retain the name, if they do consider introducing it here, which seems unlikely as they seem to be going the MPV route with the Ertiga.

I think they missed the decimal point there. But the specs and the gradability are in mouth-watering. Hope DB Sir is working on something like this for us lesser mortals.

Please note that the author of this thread is banned and not for the first time. He was a fount of miss-information. He reminds me of a fellow I once knew who was arrested for violating the chastity of his right hand. I am also of the opinion that B.D. is working on something deep in the bowels of the Tata nether regions that will explode upon the market place with a bang and a boom.

When is it really getting launched? Writing to Customer Care of MSIL also didn't help. They didn't give any solid information about their planning with regard to Jimny. I feel, it will be a SUPER HIT once launched.

Re: Jimny expected in 2011

I am in Nepal, mostly Kathmandu, for a few weeks. Am getting ready for my final assault on Mt. Everest in my Mahindra Invader. There have been some delays and set backs. One local just told me that there are no roads nor rest stops up there. This could seriously hamper my trip. (that's a joke, fellas)

There are many, many vehicles on the market here that are not available in India. Doesn't it give you are warm fuzzy feeling to know that your Indian government is protecting you from the mental torture of having too many choices, too big a market place?

Anyway, I have seen several Jimnys bopping around here. Nice sized vehicle that is rugged and tough even if not a true dedicated off-roader.

I am also not holding my breath that this great little car will ever make it to India.

Maruti Jimny Diesel India, Variant Review, Price

My neighbor in Kathmandu has a 1981 Suzuki LP80 which is the forerunner of the Gypsy and Jimny. This vehicle is still made in Spain and/or South America. It, too would make a good Indian car. It has the venerable 800 motor.

Suzuki Jimny facelifted!

The long-running Suzuki Jimny has received a minor facelift for 2013. On sale now, the updated pocket-sized SUV benefits from a new front grille along with a revised front bumper. Inside, the car boasts new headrests and the addition of Isofix child seat mountings.

I guess all this talk of an all new Suzuki Jimny in 2013 just went out the window with this facelift. So it seems Suzuki's strategy for this model is to go with the current platform for atleast a few more years. Sad news.

Re: Jimny expected in 2011

Jimny was introduced into Red China a couple of months back. It's a natural for India, too, but not only has it not been released, the whole niche of a small rugged SUV with four wheel drive is empty except for Thar CRDe. As I write this there is a 3 month wait for the Thar. It seems there is a demand. Why are there so few entries in this niche? Has Tata got something up its sleeve?
Protectionism in the Indian government keeping entries out? Fear on the part of Maruti to claim more of the Indian market? Alien interference from Alpha Ceti Five?

With maruti putting all its efforts and finances on the up and coming XA Alpha model due in 2013/14, I guess the current Jimny story has been shelved indefinitely. Lets hope the next generation Jimny comes with a diesel engine and is considered by maruti for India as a niche product to compete with the Thar. Fingers crossed
