That is Jimny, so it means the Maruti is gonna have another winner in their portfolio.

Has it arrived with a diesel heart or a petrol heart.

WOW, the Jimny... Any specific leads into its launch, or ARAI clearance? The paint protection suggests it (may have) rolled out of the production line. Please provide more inputs if you have them.

Just checked the specs from a website . It shows 3 engine options

It would be too good if the diesel makes it into India

attaching the specs sheet

Only the front grille is obsolete looking with over sized headlamps, rest of it is sporty and compact. Two door SWB is groovy, whats under the hood must be good. Diesel or petrol is another factor.
Notice the difference in the front fenders of two below.

More news on the Jimny, the article says it will also be launched with the 1.5L diesel engine that is available abroad.
The price is expected to be in the range of 6 to 7L.

If launced for 6-7L with a diesel heart, it would be a killer price for a mini SUV perfect for our roads.

It it is really sold at sub 7L price band, it would be setting sales on fire.

Is there any other 4x4 available at this price point, that provides basic comforts like lockable cabin/AC?

+1 Sharath!
@Parm: If you would know something more than what this thread already contains http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ve...ed-2011-a.html, please let us know. We are all ears!
If not, i think we should merge this thread with the above one.
Cheers,
Deepak

Great News!!. I sure hope the information is credible. I spoke to a friend in MUL after seeing this post and he did not have any information about the Jimmy and said that nothing was planned to be launched in 2011.

I do hope that Parm's inputs are better than mine. After all he also has a picture. Hopefully the Jimmy will launch soon....watch out Thar!!

This is hot of the PARM news service so I wouldn't take out my paycheck yet unless he can clarify the source besides these online news sites that have flouted recently that quote unnamed sources about new product launches.

To quote from the *article* in the websneak link:

"Indian market is in demand of luxury and ordinary SUV models and sales of SUV models in India are in its peak point. So Maruti Suzuki has decided to launch this standard entry level sedan in Indian Auto market. Maruti Jimny is offered with diesel engines of 1.5 liter capacity. If this sedan is launched in India, it faces may face tough competition from Mahindra & Mahindra. "

So according to these news site, the Suzuki is the Entry level sedan.

Just inquired through my clout in MUL and ARAI, preliminary reports suggest this is all a hullabaloo. Monday, I will confirm this news through higher ups at the test agencies. After all its a very small round world (Automotive sector).
