I'm a Trek 4300 owner too but my rides are usually restricted to Juhu-Versova and Madh-Marve as I live in the Seven Bungalows area. There are some people who pedal in the Aarey Milk Colony, especially in the mornings on weekends. You could check them out.

We did some Mountain - trail riding as well on that day and I was completely amazed with the ride of my BTwin Rockrider 5.1. I am still happy with my decision of purchase - for the time being. :-)

So far I am at 705 KM of Cycling from April 11th 2011 till last week end, my ride reports shows. And I also reduced 5 KG of my (over) weight in the last 2 months. Now 1 KG remaining.

Some pics of the ride and the places from my Picasa Album: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sred...5wE&feat=email

All the best

Re: The Bicycles thread

What happens when an overweight guy like me, gets on a cycle after almost 15 years. Takes her on a 10+10 km up and down trip with no prior small around the house circles.
That too in a city like Hyderabad with its hilly roads and some steep inclines.

He wakes up with a little soreness in his sit bones and a lot of Happiness in his heart.

Fence sitters, if I can do it with my 100+ kg weight, there is NOTHING stopping you.
Go cycle!

No I went with a group Forward150/COCO (CycleOnCycleOnwards), they are close - around 8 KM -to where I live.

But I remember seeing 2 other bikers arriving Manchanabele Reservoir and one guy immediately jumped into the reservoir and started swimming across the lake! The other guy was sitting by the lake side. We didnt check them out though, probably they are the ones you are talking about, we didnt se anyone else, the place was empty. And we were there till 1 PM around on Saturday.

Err..... guys. I am a bit new to this. So long rides? Presently I am on a stamina increasing drive.

I get famished after about 10-15 kms of continuous cycling and need rest. Wouldn't that hamper you guys in riding in a group?

Sir, we all started like this.

I was doing only max of 30-40KMs over the weekends for almost 6months. Until I found that its not in the legs, but in your mind. I mean the Power

Ofcourse, you should know when to stop pushing yourself.

Back to your question - Definitely not. We are not here to make a record. but to enjoy the ride. So, stopping, clicking and continuing is no harm!!!

Yellow Jersey : Firefox + Trek Cycles (Hyderabad)

A very well equipped cycle shop in the heart of the city, opposite the Hyderabad Central.

Services offered:
Trek and Firefox cycles. Accessories.

What I like:
The showroom decor.
A very helpful owner who also acts as the sales person.
The owner herself is an avid cyclist.
Credit Cards are accepted.

What I don't like:
As with most showrooms, where do you do the test ride.

Specialty / USP:
Authorized resellers for Firefox and Trek cycles.

What I have bought:
Almost bought a Trek 7.1 Fx. But then fell in love with a Cannondale. A brand this shop does not deal in.

The Bike Affair : Hyderabad

Cycles. Lots of them. Brands like Bianchi, Trek, Merida, Cannondale, Btwin, Kona and so on.

Services offered:
Cycles. Accessories. Rental bikes.

What I like:
There is an open road in front of the shop. You can do your test rides on this. Lets you get a good feel of the bike before purchase.
Multiple brands means you can TD them one after another.
The owner is an avid cyclist.

What I don't like:
There is no Showroom as such. Its a big garage shed.
No Credit cards.
Payment is either cash or funds transfer.

Specialty / USP:
Very informative on all cycle brands.
The ability to do the TD wins a big positive from me.
Rent a bike. If you purchase a bike within 10 days, then 2 days rental is waived off.

What I have bought:
A Cannondale Quick 5 along with some accessories.

Some serious inspiration there. I belong to your category to the dot. Only thing missing now is the cycling part. Gotta get it going. Thanks for the inspiration. Do post updates.

Re: Yellow Jersey : Firefox + Trek Cycles (Hyderabad)

This is a good shop. I have dealt with Shilpa last year around september/October.
They also deal in Fitness equipment like home gym, treadmills and other product.
I bought push up bars from her shop.Though a small transaction, she treated me well and talked about the Firefox bikes and other products.
This is walking distance from my office.
The owners and their extended family are into Health Equipment business.
Peddlar's Point at Somajiguda also belongs to their Family. I bought a Home Gym from the shop in 2007 on their recommendation and it has been serving me good till now.

They have good knowledge of the business and you can trust these guys for what they do.

Re: The Bicycles thread

So here goes basilmabraham.

I rode to office today as well. Took me around 35 mins to cover the roughly 10 kms.
My bikes gears were having an issue. So the last part of the ride, the nasty incline at Deloitte drive was the only place I walked the bike.

At 3:15, I rode the 4 kms to the bikeaffairs shop.
They fixed the gears issue.
Also found that the front brake was slightly restricting the front wheel.

bikeaffairs to my house is about 14 kms. Did that in 40 minutes. Heavy traffic. Did not walk the bike even once.

Took the inclines slow, but it was still faster than walking.

I have ridden close to 28 kms today.
Feeling great.

Hey buddy, long time Please share how you go about the stamina increasing part ! I took my bike out after a break of almost an year, did only 8 kms and I was panting like a dog !!! Do I need some soft padding for comfort ? Mine is Schwinn Frontier Sport. So far I have not got any special clothing for rides.
