I ride on 35c.

I've also raced the ACT for a while on 23c. Same rims.

I'm pretty sure the rims and frame can easily take 40c or even 42c. Will easily clear the frame and calipers both.

Haven't heard of anything wider that is readily available for 700c wheels.

I have a brand new set of GRL 35c's waiting for the next change. But at nearly 15,000 km the original set of the same GRL's is still going strong.

Instead of going wider, I would try 28c road tyres on the ACT. 32 and 30c would be a waste, as you would not really appreciate the difference over the 35c. But 28c would make a perceptible difference to the rolling and speed.

I picked a new Firefox Rapide in a local store just before the new set of lockdowns were announced. I am looking for a few basic accessories for my everyday riding plan of 20-25 KMs. Scanned through the last few pages, but such information is scattered all over. Could I ask the experienced riders here to post a list of all useful accessories along with price range, store address/ online URL, pros/cons?

Hi cycling enthusiasts,

I'm new to cycling and wanted a beginner hybrid for short commutes and exercise. I was planning to get a Mach City Munich 700c single speed but none of the stores nearby nor the online store have it stock. One local store which I called up suggested "Chase Dart 700c" as an alternative. I tried looking for reviews online for the brand/model to no avail. Has anyone here heard or have bought from this brand or the particular model?

Having accumulated over 20 cycles since last year, realization had been hanging there that I'd have to find a better way to store them.

A friend had given me a half-dozen braced iron frames made originally for shelves, I suppose, and they sat there a long while before I had time to think how to utilize them.... But finally the flash of inspiration came:

...and henceforth re-claimed considerable work/storage space. Still have a few out on the shop floor, but manageable now.

Loosely based on the SteadyRack system, btw...

These swivel on a wall-mounted pivot, allowing cycles to be laid overlapping and more or less flat against the wall.

Experts, any solution to this problem? the tyre is 700c and is a relatively brand new tyre. Would removing and reinstalling solve the problem or is it a manufacturing defect? thanks!

No. That is an old stock/defective/reject sidewall and bead. And it is very risky trying to refit and run it.

Where did you buy the tyre from?

Thanks doc for your prompt reply, as always. I got the tyre from a local shop last year and I haven’t used this bike much after that. I recently started using this bike and today only I felt hiccups whole riding and noticed this.

So in a nutshell, I need to replace the tyre? Damn, that local shop guy might not honor the warranty now

Local shop in Pune or which city was what I actually wanted to know.

Yes you will need to change the tyre if the bead pops out like this on its own. Tends to be recurrent. And very dangerous.

I have never seen this issue unless in the case of someone removing and putting back the tire (for a puncture, etc.) and not doing a good job.

Are you sure the wheel frame is also 700c? The other possibility could be that you have a much larger tire than what the frame can take.

The wheel frame is definitely 700c it does say so on the sticker that’s placed on the rim. Is there any other way of knowing for sure?

Now that you have pointed it out, the tyre dimensions are 700x35c. Is it compatible with the 700c rim?

Also, can you please let me know where can i get good quality slick tyres? most of them online are sold out. Thank you!

Interesting. Then that seems to be a compatible but defective tire - whatever be the cause of it. No idea on supplies - most if not all online options seem to be exhausted. Calling up your local shops might be the only other alternative.

Hi guys, any good recommendations for a cycle? Primary use is within city limits. Not on the highway for sure. Just commuting from point A to point B. I live in Bangalore, I'm a 34 year woman and I'm 5. 4 so I have read the frame of the cycle matters with height of the person. TIA!
