It took 30 minutes of cooling the cabin and then dashcam started to function.

Does anyone else face this issue? Is there any solution except about parking in the shade and cooling the car faster?

(I have not hardwired it. Just connected to USB port.)
I had the same issue with the 70mai A400. It kept on rebooting. I changed the USB cable and it started working.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I was using ClipChamp App for editing videos. Recently I got the OS reinstalled. Now when I visited the Microsoft website for installing the ClipChamp App, it is observed that now the ClipChamp is not Free.

What are the other Free to use Video Editing Apps for Windows 10? I don't want to buy any subscription nor would like to purchase any app for Video Editing.

Bhpians, please inform Free Video Editing Apps.

I got dashcam installed from Proactive Car Accessories shop in HBR Layout.

Map link

Owner of this store himself installed it & job was good. If I remember correctly, his name is Yousuf & can be reached by calling the number mentioned in the map link.

Alternatively, Krithi Car Care is also available in North Bangalore.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Does anyone have experience with MGP dash cam. I am about to take delivery of the brezza zxi and thinking of installing this from the dealer itself.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Reading the other dascham thread, I decided to get one asap, and felt like Sharing some recent experiences with choosing a dash cam.

1. Li Ion battery based cameras are best avoided due to extreme heat and possibility of degradation/accident. The strange thing is not all cameras that are advertised as having super capacitor may necessarily be so. (eg, some modes of Qubo, and Wolfbox g840h, seem to have Li batteries inside them, though they are being advertised as having super capacitor.) Most/all models of 70Mai are also battery based.

2. Most physical shops (in hyderabad) don't have much selection. was advised to buy online buy the shopkeeper himself.

3. Having the above constraint I zeroed on DDpai and Nexdigitron and eventually chose the nexdigitron prime dual channel (since it has inbuilt gps).
Also I am not in a mood to spend a lot on something that seems to be rapidly evolving.

Will update this post once I install and use it.

You can go for 70mai M300 or DDpai MiniPro at 4k.

Thanks Chaitanya, one of my friend has also installed DDPai MiniPro in his Verna and has good opinion about it. This solidifies my decision.

I am using the nextdigitron prime dual channel with GPS. It's working good so far. You can check my review earlier in this thread. I would suggest that you buy the CPL filter also, if not bought already.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Wolfbox G900 installed on new XUV700

I was exploring Dashcam for my recently purchased XUV700 AX7L. While my variant comes with option to record from 360 deg camera, feedback was that picture quality is not great.

Also XUV700 doesn’t come with Auto Dimming IRVM (Yes, on a 34L car) …. Based on the feedback from this forum, decided to go for Wolfbox mirror cam. Spoke to vendor directly (Saksham Anand) and after understanding my requirements he suggested to go for G900 model. The front camera is recently upgraded to RHD version and also comes with 64GB SD card installed. While i was planning to get the model without Hardwire kit, he insisted to get installed via fuse box for all features to work correctly. Once payment done, delivery was smooth and the package was received (to BLR) in 2 days.

I had this from past 2 weeks and yesterday when i went for first servicing to Mahindra ASC, I carried the device. While i was not hopeful if they oblige to install and agree for Hardwire installation, to my surprise they agreed to to connect the power to fuse box.

The Mirror screen and front camera are intergrated and it’s mounted on to existing IRVM. This houses slots for Power input, input from Rear camera, SD card and GPS device that comes with package. They have done a nice job of concealing all the wire under the trims.
The GPS device mounted on right extreme corner of Instrument Panel (next to Windshield) and Rear camera is mounted inside vehicle on rear roof facing Rear glass. Wolfbox manual recommends external mounting of the rear camera (on tailgate near number plate) for better clarity.

The actual video quality is far better than what you see in below pic

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello,
Does anyone have experience working with one video file containing two tracks (front & rear recordings)?
The OEM dashcam from Mercedes-Benz creates only one file for both front & rear cams (instead of two files, which is more standard practice). The ASC was also not very helpful in pointing this out; I had to figure this out myself.
I could find only VLC player, which would show both tracks. Of course, the OE-provided dashcam app will show both recordings but on a mobile phone only. If we were to download the file, we have to use VLC player on the comp to see both tracks.
I tried using Adobe Premiere Pro, but strangely it would show only the rear cam and not the front cam recording. I wanted to see if there was any other tool that would allow, zoom, crop, etc, and export either of the video tracks. Regular Windows player shows only front cam recording.
Thanks.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hello Everyone,

I'm in the market for an entry level dashcam and based on what I've read here I've narrowed down to the following two models, both are pretty much the same spec.
I'm leaning towards the 70mai since its an established brand and many here have been using it when compared to the Nexdigitron.
However, It seems that the 70mai saves videos of 1min duration and these take quite some time to download onto the phone - is this correct?
Can users of 70mai confirm this?

1. 70mai m300
2. Nexdigitron A3 pro

Following brands were not considered:

Qubo - I read some bad reviews with regards to their after sales service
DDPAI - Apparently their IOS app is quite bad

Please correct me if you feel that I have misunderstood regarding any particular brand / model

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I am thinking of buying a dashcam for my new car, and was trying to decide whether to go for a front only or front+rear dashcam. I got curious about % of accidents that occur when someone hits the car from behind. I checked in the 2022 Accidents data published by MoRTH, and was a bit surprised to find that "Hit from back" accidents at ~20% are more common than head on collision accidents at ~16%. And even "Hit from side" at ~14% is very close, I guess those mostly occur at crossings or signals, where someone jumps a signal, or is not careful enough to check traffic on other roads. I see there are some options available for 4 channel dashcam as well, but they do not seem to be very popular in India yet. I dont like the idea of installing cameras for side view, but theoretically, it appears as important as front and back !

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have the Nexdigitron Prime dual channel dashcam installed with the OBD2 hardwired kit and CPL filter.

Once you set the sensitivity of the collision detection, it will automatically record a segment of the video feed as evidence. The hardwired kit ensures time-lapse recording when the vehicle is parked. The device takes up to a maximum of 256GB and the recording loops to ensure automatic overwriting once the storage capacity is reached.

The official product page is here, in case anyone needs further details. I must say though, I have been extremely satisfied with this product as it met all my requirements, especially coverage of front and rear of the vehicle.
