They said it comes attached to the glass from the manufacturer. So that didn't go as I had hoped. Maybe they are available in large cities. Is there a place I can order it online?

Also, removing the existing wedge seems tricky. What if I leave alone the existing one and install the new one an inch away from it, why would there be rattling?

Thanks,

If I remember correctly, we chatted on whatsapp as well (or I might be mistaking with someone else contacted for the same query).

Well, you could then visit the scrapyards and find any broken windshield which has this wedge attached. Cut that out and repurpose on your car (it won't look nice by the way).

Yeah, I believe we did.

If its not gonna look nice then I dont want to go that route. I wish there was an easier way to procure the damn thing. I will keep looking I guess.

Contact me (on whatsapp) with pictures again, a lot have changed since we chatted, maybe I have something for you to retrofit without getting into painful process of changing the wedge.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Dear BHPians,

Can anybody here suggest me a good place in Bengaluru where I can get a dashcam installed in my car?

My plan is to buy a dashcam myself (probably online) and get it installed at a store where they would do a neat job. Thanks in advance!

I have got it done at "The Drift" accessories shop in Whitefield (Near Palm meadows, Ramagondanahalli) if that works for you.

Does anyone have any practical feedback on 70mai A510?

The specs look better than the A500 on paper with the STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor. I was sold on getting the A500 after the reviews here but the A510 prompt has now paused this. Any known issues before taking the plunge on the A510.

I believe a500 had Li-ion battery and not a super capacitor. That’s a deal breaker if that’s the case with a510 too. Battery will deteriorate in a few years and less safe in hot weather. IMX 675 is awesome but the 3k they are claiming has to be upscaled.

Thanks. The internal Lithium ion battery is a calculated risk which I am willing to take. We usually never park our car in direct sun and also being in Bombay do not get dry heat like certain other parts of India.

I’m ok with the resolution of 3K and even fine with 2K at 60fps. The quality of the sensor matters more, I think.

Also, there seem to be no other contenders in this price range. The nearest being Viofo A119 mini 2 which is single channel sadly and a bit more expensive. I’ll gladly consider other suggestions which may offer better VFM.

Yes, I agree. I too went through a detailed explorations of the dash cams recently. There are no better options at this price range unless you have a way to get it from abroad. I chose Viofo A119 mini 2 though as I had a separate rear cam.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Recently I am seeing a lot of dash cam footage clips from the hiwoodman page on Instagram. Checked out their website and found they have 2 different dash cam offerings. The specs and all also look good on paper and the pricing also seems reasonable. Wanted to check if anyone on this forum has any firsthand experience of using their dash cams?

I've said it several times.... avoid them like the plague! You can find their scams with their car android players on youtube. You can also find my experience in this thread. Although you're considering a different product, It's going to be the same vendor. They won't honor warranty in case of anyissues. In my case, they always connected through WhatsApp calls and "fixed" the issue with a reset. Scamsters are habitual!

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have been using an AUKEY DR02 dual dash cam for the past 2 years. It has a FHD resolution but I find picking out license plate details is a pain. Any recommendations on a dash cam that can make out license plates clearly?

You can get clear footage from anything above 1.5K resolution.

Check out 70mai / DDPAI / VIOFO brands.

Link for 70mai 510 3K
