QQ guys, how do you power your dash-cams? Do you have the wire trailing down to the lighter socket or have you added another power source?

Yep bought it and it's over a month now, done one long trip to Chennai and captured the off road activity as well over there, its working as expected, highly recommended product and seller.

Bought 250 bucks power splitter cum USB power supplier from eBay, looks cheap but working fine for my phone and camera and kids tab.

Reading all the crazy experiences on the road, I ordered a dash cam today.

Got it for 1600/- since I had a 30% discount coupon.

re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have ordered for the Mini 0801, one of the smallest Car DVR.

http://dashboardcamerareviews.com/mini-0801-ambarella/

Ordered it via Amazon Canada through my cousin who shall be getting this to India soon. Since my cousin had a gift coupon, the final cost came only to 52 Canadian Dollars.

Shall update once i receive and install it.

re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

My dashcam refuses to stay on.

It flashes a message..low battery and switches off.
The power adaptor is connected. But the unit is not charging itself.

The battery was always poor, giving less than 2 mins of backup.
But it was working fine when connected to the charger.

Where can I get a new battery and roughly how much would it cost.

Nice. Where did you source the battery from? And what is the backup time now?

I bought it from a nearby mobile accessory shop.
They sell the usual mobiles, cards , batteries etc.

I will check the battery life tomorrow. Am running it plugged in to get fully charged.

re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I had driven close to an hour with the unit plugged in.

Then for my return trip I saw that the charged power wasjust one bar.
But I still managed to drive for over an hour on that.

re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Finally bit the dashcam bait with purchase of the S-DOD dashcam from a friend of mine who is into selling of these.

I chose the LS400W from their product range.

The box as I received

The contents of the box. This included Camera unit, Instruction manual, Mount for the camera, Cables and a QC certificate.

I had an opportunity to test this on my car. The clips are recorded in a 3 minute duration and is looped. I am unable to upload the videos into the site. Will figure out and upload later.

Details of the dashcam can be had from here
https://www.facebook.com/dashcameraindia and their website
http://dashcamera.co.in/

During the discussion and installation, I asked my friend if he is able to extend a discount to TeamBhp members and he has agreed to do so. If anyone is interested, please contact Roshan on +919731987218 for more details.

Mods: I do not have any interest in the above and is only an information to the fellow Bhpians who would like to invest in a dashcam. If found otherwise, please delete the post.
